2012 NHL Rookies

Just wanted to gauge what people think about the 2011-2012 rookie class.

-Who do you think will be in the Calder conversation?
-Who will score the most goals? get the most points?
-Who will play the most?
-Who from the 2011 draft will make their team?

-What other predictions do you have regarding next seasons rookies?

This year's draft class didn't really wow me too much. I don't know how many will make the big clubs this year. but there's always that kid who comes out and surprises everyone.

I don't know too much about other team's prospects, but I see Caron making the Bruins for his rookie season. Maybe not a Calder candidate, but should be a solid 2nd or 3rd liner depending on who he fits better with. Could see him scoring 15 to 20 goals with the right linemates/ chemistry.

2011 draft class callups: Larsson, RNH, Strome (9 game tryout), Landeskog
Most goals and points: don't know, maybe Grandlund
Calder nominees: Granlund, Blum, deHann (if he makes team as a top 4 d-man, very possible)
HM: Landeskog, Larsson
Who will play the most: Blum/deHann

Granlund isn't playing this year due to mandatory military service.

I think that given his style and frame, Mattias Sjogren will wind up playing a solid third line role with Washington by the end of the year, maybe 15 goals and 30 points if he can connect with someone like Ward or Brouwer. 10 and 25 should be attained at the very least, but I think he can mesh with the more physical roster.

Colton Gillies will play a lot of games with the Wild this season.

EDIT: NVM, I realized he's still a prospect but I don't think he's a rookie...

I think Brayden Schenn is going to have quite the breaking out party. Looked very comfortable when playing the first 9 games for LA last year, just couldn't finish ****.

Coming from an Isles point of view, El Nino might be a serious contender for the Calder, if he makes the team.

Also Calvin DeHaan, his contract kicks in this year, so, he'll probably be on the big club.

Well, Ottawa should have in the lineup....at least to start the year; Rundblad,Zibanejad, and Cowen, as well as Da Costa and Petersson first in line for callups.

Cowen or Rundblad could be in the conversation for the Calder if all goes well(most likely just Rundblad as he is the flashier player).

I think Niederreiter will lead the rookies in scoring.

I don't know if anyone will really wow this year like some of the rookies did this year.

I think next year Granlund will look really good considering he is ready now but can't come yet.

Don't know much about Sjogren but he should do well playing on a solid third line with Brouwer/Ward.

Personally think it's going to be an off year for rookies, thinking 40-45 points wins the rookie scoring race this coming year. For the Isles if Nino plays the whole season he'll probably net 30 or so points.

Calder goes to a d-man this year I feel.

RNH will get hurt within the first 4 months of the season.

Especially is he plays with Tavares, which I hope he does.
