Re-vote Mark Stone?? (Prospect Rankings)

Should we have a re-vote of Mark Stone for the prospects rankings after this camp or just leave it?

No. Even though what he's shown in camp has been nothing short of impressive, it's not very meaningful to make a judgement based on just that. I wanna see if he can carry this into his final year in junior and the WJC before reconsidering it.

His hands are pretty rare among men his size. Despite his skating, he's a special prospect with big upside.

Agreed. Spectacular showing but maybe he was just having a great week. It also helps that he was playing with Johansen and Huberdeau.

Was it 7 points in 5 periods though? That's unreal.

Not just a great week but he's been having a great year.

Crazy season in the WHL.
The only player to produce in the playoffs for his team.
Arguably the best player in the Sens Rookie camp.
Lighting it up in the WJC camps.

Can't disagree with that, but I'm saying all that stuff happened before the polls were made (save the WJC camp). I don't think a re-vote is necessary based on these past two games alone.

This could be a huge positive for the Sens if he keeps it up...

Leave it as is. Between his position and Filatov's, it's a good reminder of how much people on this board are slaves to drafting order.

So you want to change the rankings once you actually get a chance to see him play in a game for once?

Never should have been behind Borowiecki in the first place, but it's too late to move him now. Plus, it's just one camp - lets not go crazy overrating him now.

If he has a huge season in the WHL and then chooses not to sign with us will he be a UFA next summer since he turns 20 before next draft?

A positive would be since he was a 6th rd pick he is not eligible for the big time rookie contracts with the big bonuses... but as a UFA prospect he would be.

His upside is Chris Neil (low) Michael Ryder (high) IMO

As i've been saying for awhile, this kid is gonna be a good one ;-)

I need to ring up the "I called it" thread where I said he'd rip it up this year in WJC.

No. Cause what happens when Filatov tears it up and/or Rundblad busts?

For a 6th round pick, either type of player would be a steal.

My question is, where would Mark Stone be drafted in this years draft?

You mean the post you made 14 days ago saying he would be a 30+ goal scorer?

I'm sure everyone who's been reading up on prospects knew that he made tremendous improvements since his draft year....now whether he continues to do so and brings that offensive flare to the NHL is still unknown...so perhaps hold on to that and see where he's at in a year or two.

Stone was under-rated in the rankings for two reasons 1) reports on his skating 2) his draft position.

To an extent, Stone's performance in the WHL was even downplayed by some posters, while lesser performances were applauded.

The facts are Stone had a great year in the WHL, looked very good at the Sens development camp (better than many ranked above him), and earned an invitation to the Canadian Junior camp. This last item suggests Hay and his staff thought he was one of the top 40 junior players in this country.

It now appears Hay was right, Stone does belong in the company of the best Canadian junior talent today.

This could be said about every prospect, why does it only seem to apply when talking about Stone?

I'd say we could re-vote if Stone plays well in the NHL. And it does seem that stone has continued to improve. So if this continues, he could be a steal. But I'd be cautious to say he's a sure thing, until I see him play in the NHL.

Well we'd most likely vote again before that even happened, soooo...
