My only wish is that the "future" segment also included Noesen and Puempel getting drafted.

The team should market all 3 first round picks as the future Hydra or Cerebus of Destruction!

I liked it! Definitely reminds me of the epic storyline this franchise has gone through... ultimately building up to 2007, of course... I was in high school, but man those first few playoff years were just amazing, and I'll never forget the buzz in the air around the cup run... let's hope we're back quickly!

Wish the gladiator hadn't been included, however brief his part was, though.

almost makes me think we'll be good this year. Hope we're awful for the sake of a proper rebuild.

A proper rebuild consists of being good, so if we do better the rebuild is working. If we keep being awful that would be a proper teardown.

biggest thing about all this was that they aren't bringing the new scoreboard until "MAYBE" november so we might not even have one at all.

Wasn't 92-93 their first season? Same as the Bolts... wouldn't that make this coming season only their 19th? I don't get it.

Yeah, this is pretty stupid. 20th season is not the same as 20th anniversary. They'll be commemorating the 19th anniversary of various events (e.g. first game), but i'm betting they'll just gloss over that and repeatedly say "20 years ago..."

Perpetual mediocrity is different than being poor for a couple of seasons and compiling lottery picks. The best thing for this franchise would be another solid first round pick.

That being said, if Anderson stands on his head, Alfie Michalek and SPezza stay healthy, D-vets rebound, forward sophomores avoid slumps and rookies turn out calder contention seasons the Sens might have a crack at the playoffs this season. I won't complain!

Regardless, I'll take great enjoyment out of watching the young guys earn their NHL stripes. I think Sens fans are in for an entertaining season! Nothing could be worse than last year.

Actually If you count it out, just as I have just done 3 times to be sure. So I don't seem like a fool. It would be the 20th anniversary and 19th season played (only because of the lockout). Would be 20 seasons if it weren't for the lockout.

Right but the lockout existed for everyone. Just seems like sort of a stretch that's all, as it's officially being marketed as the "20th anniversary season". Trust me, I get it, this iteration of the team has technically been in existence, though hasn't played, for 20 years.

I haven't looked but when the Rangers had their 85th anniversary I'm sure they were counting the lockout season as well so whatever.

Now that I think about it what really doesn't make sense are the Cup banners. If those are legit then shouldn't the anniversary be a much bigger number?

Banners were raised to honour the 1920s-era Senators, but no, they're not the same franchise.

According to the NHL they are. The Senators were reinstated by the league.

Its the 20th anniversary of their return.
