What's the difference between an "auction" and a "value of?"

Get out of here, voice of reason.

Nothing at all.

Stoll won't be getting a pay cut, I think he'll be staying at about the same salary. He is a great third line center and the Kings are incredibly deep with him. I don't understand why Kings fans don't want him...

It's just Kurrilino. And we don't know why he hates him so much.

Since you are a moderator, and i started the auction idea i will try to explain it... (As much as my poor English allow me to do).

I am not sure if ''Auction'' should be the right word to describe what i wanted to try...

The problem i had with the ''Value of'' traditional thread was the misconception about a player should had an accepted ''market value''. In many thread it bring disagreement between fans of one team wanting a lot for their players (asking price) and fans of the others teams not willing to give that much (bidding price).

An auction keep away most of the disagreement and flaming, while clarifying what the a poster is talking about when they make an offer:

By making an offer a poster is just saying what he would be willing his team to trade to acquire the named player. And to date, posters and even newbies seem to understand this concept.

By making a bidding offer, They are not trying to find the universal value of the auctioned player (it doesnt exist), they dont insult anyone about the perceived value of their ''So much valuable to their own team, it would take an overpayment to get them'' players.

Beside when making proposal, people often forgot that many teams would outbid their offers, An auction allow people to realize that. By keeping track of the top offer, it kinda work similar to a poll as well.

Of course there is still some flaw to this formula (verifying if the offer is credible, and fans of the same team disagreeing about the right offers). Also, im not sure yet about if there is a genuine interest to keep this formula, but its interesting to test it.

Maybe we could establish some guideline in the future... Any idea? maybe another concept than an ''aunction'' but the goal should be to distinguish the Asking price and the Bidding offers when someone is talking about the value of a players.

I just wish my English was better so i could express myself....

What you think about?

And this.

I agree with the notion of just not opening a thread if you know it'll bother you, but this is getting ridiculous. If Stoll bothers you this much, just stop posting about him at all, and ignore all comments/threads on him Kurri.

PHX or NSH seem like the best fit if the Kings really do choose to move him. What does LA really need though (other than keeping him)?

He's only overpaid if he's getting more than the market dictates. Stoll as a UFA would fetch more than what he's being paid now, likely upwards of a million per year more. If LA resigns him though, I'd expect it would be for the same or less than what he's making now.

The only current hole is 3rd line RW, but one of Richardson or Lewis will likely take that role. Dealing Stoll only makes sense if Loktionov shows he's ready to center the 3rd line, at which point LA can move Stoll for an upgrade at RW.

As others have pointed out, I wouldn't be surprised to see Stoll re-up at a discounted rate in order to play for a competitive Kings team. I wouldn't have a problem with it either.

I do like the idea of Stempniak to the Kings. If Phoenix is out of the playoff race by the deadline, maybe a deal for a mid pick to add some oomph to the offense.

I have a huge man crush on him too.

Bozak (still has potential)
Aulie (SOLID)

Probably gonna get flamed by Leafs fans for putting Aulie into it, but the man crush wins.

Yeah, but it's not worth bragging about either. My friends were scared off by the women's balls.

A young winger will do.
Some potential to work with when Murray is gone.

Actually the idea is to get this 3rd line wiger for Stoll.
IMO we don't have the player to build a bottom 6.
That means we have to build a top 9 and Stoll is not a player i want on an offensive line.
And i don't want Richardson being benched or used for a role he isn't made for.
Loktionov should have another year in the AHL with a couple off call ups.

with that said i would go like this

Penner - Kopiatr - Williams
Gagner - Richards - Brown
Parse - Richardson - Stoll trade winger
Clifford - Lewis - speedy youngster form Camp

This lineup is lokin way better than any Top 6/ Bottom 6 ideas i would have. We just use the players skills instead squeeezing the player insot roles they are not made for.

1. Go back in time exactly seven weeks
2. Phoenix offers our 2011 1st and 2nd round picks

We get Stoll instead of our head European scouts son who nobody ever heard of and Gord Murphys kid who had played like ten games total the preceding three years due to injury and who has already blown out his knee, and will spend the next four months out with the injury.

Kings get the chance to actually use those picks like a non retard and maybe get something actually worth the plane ticket to Minnesota for the ****ing draft.

Also, LA has to agree to outbid us for Mike Smith in time for our idiotic franchise not to blow off Vokoun in favor of this random ****** back up goalie.

**** my life.
