Unlikely to see two eastern teams trading with each other at this point in the offseason, though.
You got Boyes for a second at the deadline last year and he certainly disappointed. Not sure how his value has increased to a roster player since then.

If the Pens go after him I'd rather wait till this summer when Buffalo doesn't re-sign him.

Good Lord, I'd do that deal in a second from a Pens POV. I doubt Sharks fans would be so eager however

This is just rubbish from Madden though (which is nothing unusual btw) The Pens could use upgrading at RW but it won't be happening till the deadline if it happens at all. If Kennedy reverts back to being just a 3rd line winger and if Sullivan is injured/not working out then I could definitely see Shero making a move. Players that come to mind are: Doan, Bourque and maybe Hemsky if his entire body doesn't completely shatter on opening night.

I'm surprised they didn't make a bid for Michael Ryder. He seems like the type of player that could flourish on Crosby's wing.

It would probably never happen, but I think a deal such as Jordan Staal + Kris Letang for Zach Parise is sort of fair value. A Kovalchuk-Staal pairing would be interesting too.

Joffrey Lupul might be another good target (just thinking of pure snipers that would play best with a great playmaker).

I don't think they'd give up that much for Parise, and believe me it's nothing against him. It's just a lot.

Pretty much this.

Also, some of these ridiculous proposals of elite wingers (Bourque, Iginla, Hemsky) going to the Pens for picks/prospects are forgetting something called the salary cap.

If the Pens were so strongly looking to add another winger, they probably would have tried to do it in free agency and/or would have just offered Jagr more money. I think they like their group and will stick with it for now, hoping young players like Tangradi & Jeffrey can continue to take steps forward.

Wasn't there a "rumour", if it even reached that level, of Ray Whitney wanting a trade?

Well what happened about Janne Pesonen, I thought the search was over? :sarcasm

I say Sam Gagne, he seems to be the new odd man out among Edmonton fans almost immediately after Cogliano was traded. He's smaller, but he's swift, has a slick pair of hands, he's young, cheap and is probably better suited for the wing then center.

Tangradi & Niskanen for Gagne maybe?

Though I don't know if Edmonton can lose that depth down the middle.

He didn't disappoint at Wing ..... he was great for Buff at wing.... He disappointed when injuries forced him to Center ...... But ... I understand the rest of your reasoning....

-------- I wouldn't mind moving one of Pomminville or Stafford for Stall ... and whatever else needed to be done to make the cap work for both teams..

His value has always been a roster player, whether first or fourth line...

I'm thinking Bourque for a prospect/2nd. Hemsky is redundant as he's a pass first guy.

Crosby looked to score more last year and Hemsky could help give him another option to lug the puck up ice.

Neal-Crosby-Hemsky would be one hell of a line.

Really? Neal and Kunitz aren't enough for you? I think you'd rather need wingers for Malkin instead.

I'm not sold on Gagner as anything more than a guy who gets points becasue somebody has to do the scoring on a bad team. Considering his cap hit I question how much of an upgrade he would be over someone like Jeffrey or Letestu.

Hemsky is a talented 1st liner. However, he's also an injury prone pending UFA. I have no interest in moving Staal for a player with that risk profile.

Crosby needs a winger to complement him, not to compliment him. As arguably the best player in the game, he doesn't need any more compliments.

I don't think Pittsburgh and Edmonton are really a fit if your goal is to get Staal. If Staal is going out the door I want someone like Chris Stewart coming back; someone young, but with a good track record that fits the Penguins' style.

Edmonton has a ton of players the could be very good. They don't have much in the way of young and proven.
