Hey JM, who do you see the Oilers picking with the 2nd OV? Murray or Grigo?
It's a tough question to answer. Honestly I have no idea. My gut feeling is that if we stay in the 2nd overall position we would take Grigorenko. The reason being, our D prospects look much brighter than our F prospects (not counting Hall, Ebs or Nuge), Grigorenko is the BPA, and a big center would be ideal if we want to be a contender.
What I'm hoping for is Montreal making an offer to move up and select Grigorenko, and converting Hall to center so we can get Murray and the 1-2 punch down the middle. I think Hall's a better fit playing in the middle of the ice and I doubt he'd get injured as often.
That, or just winning the lottery and taking Yakupov.

Yea, I see Tambo taking Grigorenky, even though Murray could give you guys that #1. Another top center would complete the forward group. Schultz being a FA should add to that as well.
Who do you have coming down the pipe for D? Klefbom and Marincin are the only two I've heard about.
Just my two cent, but no team should draft for needs. If they think the best player available is a winger, draft him.
And to my point of view, edmonton prospect pool is somewhat deeper at defense, but there's absolutly no sure thing there. Having 4-5 guys who can make it doesn't mean they will all make it. It will probably be more between 0 and 2 who make it at the end.

David Musil - 2nd round pick, 31st overall
Probably a #5 shutdown guy. Played at the World Juniors. Close to NHL ready and could be on the team in 2 seasons. Sure fire NHL player.
Martin Gernat - 5th round pick, 122nd overall
Potential top 4 offensive defenseman. 6'5 and 55 points in 60 games as a rookie this year in Edmonton. Unreal potential, definitely a boom or bust type but he has a lot of raw talent. Apparentely the Oilers actually had him ranked early in the 2nd round coming into the draft and were able to snag him late. He also played at the World Juniors.
Brandon Davidson - 6th round pick, 162nd overall
Potential top 4 defenseman. Good size, good two way guy. Much like Gormley in the sense that he doesn't do anything great but also doesn't really have many flaws. Just gets the job done.
Jeremie Blain - 4th round pick,
Potential top 4 defenseman. From what I've seen he's a bit like Letang. Had 50 points in 58 games this season in the QMJHL. Likes to play the body and has good size.
Those 4 are the one's I have high hopes for and do think they will eventually become NHL players. One other guy I think doesn't get enough credit is Taylor Fedun. He was one of the top College Free Agents last year. He would have made the Oilers this season IMO, if he didn't break his femur in pre-season. He's healing well and started skating a while ago but I'm not sure if he'll be the same player.
Teubert, Plante, Bigos are meh. Although Teubert still has good potential, I just don't see him being a fit as he's being shadowed by the 4 listed above, as well as Marincin and Klefbom.
If these guys pan out, we don't have to have a #1. The Oilers prospect pool for defenseman reminds me a lot of a Vancouver style defense. No real #1 defenseman, just a lot of good ones.

Maybe. But I'm not sure about 0-2.. Marincin, Davidson, Klefbom are probably going to turn pro next season so we'll get a better idea on them but right now it looks bright. I'm much more concerned about offensive depth coming into the draft. And Stu MacGregor has clearly proven he can find gems later, especially defenseman. You look at the best defenseman in the league today, most of them were late round picks.
