Ok, so get yourselves set for the hardcore fun tonight. We'll start at 6PM PST/9PM EST like I said before.
Download this jar file and just drop it in your Minecraft Bin folder. If you're not using a jar selector just rename your current minecraft.jar to something else and change minecraft_1.2.5_Hardcore.jar to minecraft.jar. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17748277/min...5_Hardcore.jar (This is from my dropbox, it's a safe download)
The bin folder will be at:
Windows: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft/bin
My computer is having problems so it may be delayed a little bit. Hang in there. When the server is back online feel free to hop on with the Hardcore jar file.
Tried changing jar files as directed. Seem to be stuck at
Updating Minecraft
Done Loading progress bar stuck at about 9/10 of the way to completion.
How are you doing this? I just downloaded the jar and switched it with the other one in my minecraft folder, I can't think of any reason you would need any of that.
Ok, sorry about that. Looks like we're good to go. I'm gonna start up the server. Log in and please don't move anywhere until we're all in there. Join up! Use the regular IP for our server.

Copied hardcore jar file into bin folder. Renamed old minecraft.jar to minecraft.bk and renamed hardcore jar to minecraft.jar. Stuck on done loading. Found an article online about this and tried deleting everything under the minecraft folder. Forced minecraft to redownload all files. Tried replacing jar files again.Same problem.

Try not renaming anything, just drag and drop them. Make sure the old jar isn't in the same folder at all. Otherwise, I don't get any loading bars when I start minecraft so this is completely foreign to me.
