Knew I'd see some reactions to that post...speaking to Kolbe about Capitals stuff, very nice guy. Not a fan of listening to his game calling like many of you, but outside of that, I hope he's ok and there isn't anything more to this (no, I don't know anything, just noting.)
The Caps would never win a cup with Kolbe calling the games on radio.
Boom! Headshot!
Walton...send in the resume!
Funny you should say that. The only Cap's playoff game I was forced to listen to on radio rather than watch on TV was the Montreal game 7 in 2010. My sister had a college awards ceremony and when it was time for dinner part, I went out to listen to the game on XM Radio. I turned it on right when Mike Green took a penalty and Montreal scored. Of all the Kolbe calls, I will remember that one the most. I remember saying out loud, "Damn you Mike Green". Then after the that, for some odd reason the car battery died and I didn't make it home except to see the last minute of the 3rd period play .
not that my opinion matters on this, but it is fine with me if the radio posts get merged into the new thread...didn't realize the news was that big, ha ha

And fwiw, didn't catch this one on a retweet; I was doing a search trying to track down FA camp invites.
I could just imagine Dave Johnson switching over from the Wizards to the Capitals and he announces goals scored like he does for soccer/D.C. United, "It's in the net!, It's in the net!".
Along with Walton, some people are suggesting the Atlanta radio guy, now former Atlanta radio pbp...Dan Kamal - recognize the name, but can't say I've listened to any Atlanta radio broadcasts, any opinions? (Kamal is also a former Hershey radio guy)
Say no to Thorne.
As I posted in the other thread, Kolbe was a very nice person when I spoke with him off the ice. Hopefully all is ok and this is a money issue or another job opportunity; that is assuming he is leaving the Caps, which isn't confirmed at this point, although sure looks like it.
Although there's the be careful what you wish for aspect, I won't mind having someone new to listen to when listening to Caps games on the radio.

Sounds like Kolbe's always on 1-year deals. Is it agiven that he isn't going to sign on again? I wonder when they usually work out extensions for that type of position.
