I like the overall feel of the new game so far. Not a whole lot of difference but noticeable slight tweaks. My brother doesn't wanna play with me anymore though. I wouldn't accept our HUT until we got Lando (it was cool seeing his name and number on the back of an Avs jersey, even if just in a videogame), put him on the top line with Malkin, position locked LW, "passpasspasspasspass".
I just got the game today and most of the Avs players ratings seem fair with Stastny Duchene and Johnson all 87.
I think they overate Cumiskey (81) Porter (80) and Yip (79).
My major annoyance is that they massively underrate out prospects. with Elliot Barrie Hishon and all being around 70/71/72 with bcc ish potential. But hey i guess thats what player editor is for.
I played the NHL12 demo. While the EA improved it's hockey game, 2K hockey games are much much better, much more realistic, specially the skating. Too bad they aren't making 2K 12 for xbox 360. But instead of buying the NHL 12 i bought the 2K10, the last hockey game 2K made for xbox.
Could anyone tell me the player ratings for our players/prospects? And which do they have as our best prospect?
Our best prospect is Landeskog. Hes 72 rated with BBB potential.
Im not on the game at the moment so im not totally sure on the others but they are all around the 70 mark with around B-CC or something similar. A bit disappointing if you ask me.
Chouinard is 73 and has a couple of B's in his potential which seemed fair enough to me
For all those people who are hoping to do BAP, and do really well in the Memorial Cup and get drafted by the Avs, don't get your hopes up.
While the FIRST time you do the draft, it is accurate to the draft order of the 2011 draft, if you quit and go back it jumbles it up each time.
From 10:15 pm-12:00 am last night I attempted to get drafted by the Avs, my guy did well in the Memorial Cup tournament and went 1st overall each time.
I was drafted 8 times by the Leafs, 7 by the Canucks, 5 by the Senators, and 5 by the Penguins and various other teams 1-2 times...the closest the Avs came to drafting #1 was 2nd overall. In fact, after an hour, I began keeping track of an unusual stastic.
From 11pm-12am I managed to quit and restart 20 times, of those 20 times, the Avalanche drafted #2 4 times, all other 16 times they drafted 16th or lower...
I haven't got the game yet, but based off of that video a lot of our players are rated to high. Why is Cumiskey the same rating as O'Reilly??? And also, Mueller an 84? He was an 82 in NHL 11, I don't know why they would rate him higher when he hasn't played in a whole year, if anything he should have regressed. Of course Jones is still underrated; I'd rate Jones probably 83/4.
Players that are overrated:
Johnson (Could be a 87 this season, but right now he isn't)
Duchene (Same as above)
Mueller (Same as above)
McLeod (Last year was his worst year, should have decreased)
Yip (Fringe AHLer/healthly scratch, should be a little lower)
Koci (Come on, seriously...)
Of course the overall rating doesn't mean anything and it's the individual ratings that are important, but that's where EA goes wrong. It's like they do these ratings in reverse and a lot of stats are inflated or maybe too low.
I'd also like to see more seperation between player stats. The scale goes up to 99, but the lowest is around 50 for CHLer scrubs. EA should take advantage of the ENTIRE scale, that way players like Crosby and Ovechkin are truely elite players.
Sorry for that long rant about player ratings, but I buy this game every year because I'm a sucker and HAVE to have it, but I'd like to get my money's worth. And I haven't even said anything about the gameplay...
I've downloaded the first roster update, and it's not exactly accurate for the Avs, Ryan O'Byrne has suddenly disappeared from the world, Joakin Lindstrom is nowhere to be found, Landeskog is still in the OHL...
And Koci is still lurking there, I want him gone....
