to me he's almost exactly like Datsyuk in every manner....just worse at everything....Datsyuk does everything at an elite level....AA does everything at an above average level. Love this kid.

Datsyuk is elite. Anisimov is 23. When Datsyuk was 23, he scored like 35 points. I am not saying Ani is going to turn in to Datsyuk, but he has a lot of the same qualities
AA is really starting to grow on me. in his first full season 2 years ago i thought he was the doofiest skater iv'e ever seen. his body was all over the place arms flailing everywhere and everytime he tried turning it seems as if he was so off balance. last year he showed some GREAT offensive ability and is just only going to get better. behind boyle i think he was the most improved player last season.

Anisimov reminds me of a mix of Handzus and Franzen
AA's offensive ceiling has pretty much already happened. He is a great player, but he doesn't have the killer instinct needed to take it to the next level.

every season, he has improved his production, from 10 points in the KHL t0 43 in the AHL, then 81 (how many PPG 20 year olds play in the AHL?), then 28 as a NHL rookie with limited ice time (~13 min), and now 44 points. You might be able to make that claim with some authority if he scores 44 points next season, but I'm looking at him to take 60 points. I really want to see a Rupp-Anisimov-Prust line just to see if can resemble the Shelley-Anisimov-Prust magic we had at the end of the 09-10 season. Anisimov said in interviews he plays much better with all the space those two made for him and those two definitely played better with Arty. If Torts had a 4th line that played that well, he'd be happy to roll 4 lines all night long.
re: OP - i don't think there is any one player like Anisimov. He's a blend of several. Datsyuk super lite + Koivu lite + maybe Franzen lite - Franzen's more physical play. No one will mistake Anisimov for a Mule. at least not his current incarnation. Although when I first read "Who does AA remind you of?" I immediately thought "Mr. Bean" or rather Rowan Atkinson
If Martin Hanzal and Nik Antropov did it, and Michael Handzus and Pavel Datsyuk did, and THOSE 2 kids did it (slamming hands together), you'd have Artem Anisimov.

Him scoring 60 points and him playing with Rupp and Prust are mutually exclusive. One will never EVER happen at the same time as the other.
I'd also hesitate before calling it "magic", just b/c they were a good forechecking/puck possession line that looked even better b/c every other line was sh*tting the bed. The 4th line is below AA at this point in his development.

I think Datsyuk was a rookie at 23 and his 2nd season he was already showing signs of greatness.
By the way, I think Anisimov could end up a 1st line center, but he also might end up a 3rd line center. This year will probably give us the answer.
AA is a unique and totally fascinating player. He plays a hybrid European/North American game. How these two sides of him will manifest themselves when he is fully mature and in his prime remains to be seen. Watching him develop is a case study in two different hockey cultures. I do think there are layers in him we have not seen yet. I am expecting him to show continued offensive improvement while remaining defensively responsible.
Reminds me of Nemchinov, but may be better in a year or two.
He did not max out yet, but he will not score 60+ points either. He will score in the 50s.
I disagree, I could totally see Anisimov putting up 60-70 points when he enters his prime. He put up like 88 points in the AHL and has gotten consistently better every year
Anisimov doesn't remind me of Datsyuk all that much. He's pretty good defensively but I don't think he holds Datsyuk's jock in that regard. Datsyuk's defense often sends the puck the other way in a hurry. I see Anisimov play well in his own end, but he's never making these plays where he just turns the puck over from shear determination and skill and turns it up ice like Datsyuk does.
As far as offense goes, Anisimov shows off great moves from time to time, but he doesn't come close to the speed Datsyuk has and other than the fact that they're both have good hands their offensive game is not all that similar. Anisimov protects the puck and grinds it out, Datsyuk is much more of the dangler variety.
AA reminds me a ton of Antropov. Big guy. Big long strides. Doesn't use his size to hurt, but he's certainly difficult to take off the puck. Antropov's underrated in his own end. I think that's who Anisimov's game mirrors, if anyone.
