Go to MSH and do a google site search. You'll find good info there on people who have or demo'd them. Most seemed to like them.

good idea but overpriced.. $160?

I play no contact mens rec hockey twice a week so I was in the market for something like this recently.. I ordered a pair of the Bauer classic supremes instead

I'm in the same boat as you. If you feel like you need a little more protection don't be afraid to go ONE40's. They weigh a hair more, but have better sternum, clavicle, and spine protection. I just worry about shots from the point while standing in front. Some guys can bring it and getting hit wearing my old Sherwood 5030's would have been painful at the very least.

An even better option IMO is the new Sherwood 9950 shoulder pads. Same as 5530 with better materials and additional chest and back protection:



Oh yeah, only $35. I'm picking up a pair.

I just bought a pair of these, my old 5530's finally fell apart. everything is good so far. and I like the idea of the extra chest pad. my dumb a@# forgets sometimes that I'm an old man and I shouldn't be blocking shots anymore
