He was signed because Noreau spurned Lou and the Devils. Harrold is being brought in to do what Noreau was brought in for in the first place.
He'll be in the AHL, but could get called up as an injury replacement or b/c of other considerations the management might have.
I dont like that because he's just taking playing time from a young player. We have Jay Leach for the filler role. I mean we have Fayne, Burlon, Gelinas, Sova, Corrente, Urbom, Kelly, Young, Leach, and now Harrold all fighting for 6 spots.
This reminds me of this forums' argument about Mark Fraser. Well, at least me vs. everyone else.
Us. I`ve always been with you on that one.

When you can`t get quality, you get quantity and hope someone pans out. Nothing wrong with that, especially when it comes to D. You just never know with them.

Sounds just about right. Agreed.

That's impressive - both from the fans and for him.
The fact that his AHL salary is the max amount without requiring re-entry waivers suggests that he's hedging his bets that he'll spend a lot more time in Albany than in NJ. The way this team got hit by injuries last year though, it's not a bad idea to stock D in Albany either.
Not bad for Albany D...however, with Vasyunov`s departure, Henrique possibly making the team, Zharkov being up, McIntyre traded and both Tedenby and Josefson as locks to play in the NHL, Albany O is going to be atrocious.

Maybe Lou/Chris are trying to shore up the D as a result?
The way I see it, if the fans are aware how heavy our 50 contracts are on defense, Lou's definitely aware. Maybe he's planning on shipping out a prospect or two early in the season and wants to make sure there will be a replacement in place, instead of scrambling to find one during the season.
Just a theory. But all these moves lately give me the idea that something's in the works.
Yep, but defense alone isn`t going to win them tight games, they really need more F depth.
There's a lot of guys who are 15+ goal secondary scorers on the team and not much in the way of pure scorers. But it's still early, we'll have to see how things shake out.
One thing just jumped out at me though, how did Brad Mills have nearly as many points and almost twice as many goals as Vasyunov in just 3 more games played? That seems really odd and I never noticed it last year.
