I didnt think so, but he's on the official roster page. All the other players on that page are signed players. But that's all im going by, which could be nothing.
Yup im quoting myself because the Rangers traded goalie Mike Morrison to Peterborough for 3rd rd pick in 2012 and 4th and 6th in 2013.
Good job Spotter! I said on here a while back that if we got the same or more in return for Morrison than we did in the Parks trade I'd be happy.
IIRC, we got a 3rd and 5th for Parks?
That being the case, we got more for Morrison who, even though the same age and the backup the previous year, did not have a year under his belt as a #1 tender, as Parks did with the Fronts.
Here's to Mo having a good season with the Petes (and playing an OA season to get us that 6th rounder!).
Well I guess there goes the outside chance on Mayfield, from Kukla's Korner
"In prospect news, Scott Mayfield, a highly touted defenseman drafted by the NY Islanders 34th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, confirmed over the weekend that he will be playing hockey for the University of Denver this fall" http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.ph...d_affirms_his/
I could care less about Mayfield now. I'm confident enough to say he would have been a 1st rounder if he was in Kitchener last season, but instead he stayed in that ****hole of Youngstown, and had a down year agaisnt inferior competition. Now he wants to go to college let him go, don't want the Islanders to force him to go here either because it's clear he doesn't want to come and we don't need that poisoned attitude.
On Matthew Peca, Spott says "he'll play in Kitchener or the NCAA. Peca will not play for another CHL team."
Also Matia is cleared to play but there's a hiccup with obtaining Radak Faksa transfer agreement.
Spott doesn't seem too hopeful even though Faksa is in town and ready to play

Hopefully Trouba reports for next year.
Spott tonight said that Trouba and his father visited Kitchener last week and was impressed and is quite positive that he'll be here next year.
btw...agree on Mayfield, he seems to be willing wallow in mediocrity.
I guess dropping in the draft wasn't much of a wake-up call for him.
I rather have a guy that wants to play in the NHL than go rah-rah for the NCAA for 4 years.

Thanks for the updates! Would have loved to have gone to AGM but two small children prevent that from happening lol.
Excited for Trouba, any word on Ashton-Reese? If neither Peca, Faksa or Ashton-Reese play this season I hope Spott has a few back up plans.

Wasnt able to go to this years meeting. Did Spott say what the hiccup was (previous contract related)? If its not resolved in the next few weeks, I wonder what is up the sleeves for the open import spot?

Spott mentioned that the CHL is receptive (but hasn't ruled on it yet) to allow an previous import player who was NHL drafted and likely to make the NHL but had to be release too allow the CHL team to draft another import. If the CHL does allow this to happen and Gabe struggles with the Av's.......say "welcome back Gabe!" <----- but very unlikely he gets sent back

I wonder how long he would wait to see if Landeskog comes back. I assume if he makes it past his 10 games in Colorado that they would suit up Faksa?
Great, GREAT news for him. He handled this better than any kid that age should be expected to. I hope for two things:
1) he has a long, healthy, successful season
2) the ovation he receives on opening night lasts for 60 minutes.
Welcome back Ben.
Awesome news!!
Had heard a decision was coming in the next few days on his status. Might have to go to the Aud tonight for the practice or tomorrow for the intersquad games.
Rangers make big trade today... "In the deal the Rangers receive defenseman Max Iafrate, Plymouth's 1st round Import Selection in 2012 and 2013 in exchange for Kitchener's 1st round Import selection in 2012 and 2013 and a 3rd round pick in the 2015 and 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection."
Stats don't tell the tale really if you aren't an offensive d-man. He isn't. This helps out in the toughness area and from what I remember hearing last year, he has an agressiveness to his game where he sometimes goes "over the line" so to speak. We need that on the back end too.
I like the deal. However, I'd like to know the significance of the swap of imports. Do the Whalers have the option to swap in these two years or are the picks swapped without conditions?
Also, this will make it very hard for Fanelli to make this team.
Melchiori - 91
One of Sol/Jasper - 91 (I prefer Sol)
Murphy - 93
Iafrate - 94
McEneny - 94
Young - 94
Genovese - 94
Gilbert - 95
The only way Fanelli sticks around is if one of Young or Genovese play their way off the team. Spott has said that Fanelli has to make this team. Nothing will be handed to him.
