Beck looks a little to keyed up for this game. Someone needs to calm him down.

While the Redskins have looked great in their first five quarters, it has to be noted the Steelers played flat last week as have the Colts

Where would we be without the Crypt Keeper keeping us from un-realistic expectations?

He started the game. He did alright. Most of the plays were RB runs though.

Yes he is. He's led 2 scoring drives and has looked as good as Grossman did last week. Needs to calm down though. You can tell he has been waiting for this for a while.

If Mike Sellers hadn't pulled a Portis (tripping over his own feet), Beck would have a TD pass.

Well there won't be a problem confusing Austin with Banks returning punts, but Austin has had 2 good ones. Doesn't seem to have that extra gear Banks has.

End of 1st Quarter. 10-0 Skins. Beck has looked good against a bad pre-season team in the Colts.

According to WTOP, the Colts haven't played any of their starters.

They played Freeney, don't know about anyone else

Another Redskins Red Zone visit.

It has been one sided in favor of the Skins for sure. This game will be horribly un-watchable once the 3rd and 4th stringers get in.

Beck had a chance to convert a 3rd and short, but threw a horrible pass to Austin. Gano strikes again.

Ref ordering the roof closed.

I'm sure there are others. I'm not sure how much I trust WTOP for their live sports coverage

Another drive stalls in the red zone. At least Gano has been perfect.

And I am convinced now that Beck needs to be the starter for his mobility alone. The guy can make plays with his feet. Its nice to have a QB who can do that.

Anyone see the Ref yelling at someone on the Colts sideline after that last TO?

1st half observations:

1. Beck has looked good, and he is very mobile. He should get the starting QB job for his mobility alone.

2. Hightower looked really good. Nice 58 yard run to set up the TD.

3. Helu can hustle.

4. Trent Williams still has a lot of work to do. Got beat badly at least twice.

5. Terrance Austin is no Brandon Banks.

6. Gano perfect so far. Right down the middle.

7. Redzone offense needs a lot of work.

8. If Painter is the Colts 2nd string QB, Peyton Mannings bird neck better heal quick. That guy is horrible.

9. Kerrigan with some nice hustle plays.

10. Fred Davis needs to learn to get on the ground when he has someone around his ankles. He is going to get his head taken off one of these times.

Total Yard at the half:

Skins - 277
Colts - 41

First Downs:

Skins - 16
Colts - 1

I know the Colts are a bad pre-season team, but jeez.

Beck 14/17. Looks like he has some potential after all.

Grossman looked alright but had a pick. Wow, 411 yards today

Beck looked good, but things change when the opponent is firing live bullets. Love the mobility. Can't get enough of it.

Also, I really hate the black Redskins gear. Black is not a color of the Skins. Beck was wearing a black Skins hat and it was ugly. Bring back the burgundy hats with the gold curley R.

Hankerson caught 3 of 4 balls and led them in receiving. He has to get the drops ironed out.

Beck made all the right decisions and was pinpoint with his passes.

The Colts did play their starting D and the Skins started their 2nd and 3rd string RB and WR in the 2nd quarter.

It's not surprising that all the naysayers are trying to downplay how competent and effective the Skins have been.

Bright spots included Roy Helu rushing for 100 yards with some elite balance and Kerrigan getting a sack. Austin looked great at WR and PR. I didn't expect him to challenge Banks, but if he keeps playing like he is...

Remember Osaka, slick. Remember Osaka. I was pleased with what I saw, but it was pre-season game #2. Beck was a little to keyed up early, then settled down nicely, but he needs to do it when the real bullets are flying. That is Sept. 11.

The Skins need to keep up the consistency, and no serious injuries. Thats all one should want out of the pre-season.

Not a skins fan, but:

Helu looked damn good (against the 2s). So did Hightower. I think the Skins have the potential for a really good rushing attack this year. We'll see how the offensive line looks against first string d lines.

I didn't see the WRs creating a lot of space. Beck had to thread the passes he made. It's the reason Gaffney didn't score on his red zone catch. But, on the plus side, Beck made those passes.

The D was good statistically, but they didn't look "shutout" overwhelming. I was surprised to see Blades still in a skins jersey. The Colts' offensive line isn't what it has been either. You can tell the team misses Dungy.

Beck imho is the starter at this point in the preseason. He's looked more consistent than Grossman if nothing else. But maybe that's just me looking at the situation through "******* Grossman losing the Super Bowl for the Bears" glasses.

Shanny's zone-blocking + Hightower, Torain and Helu and an improved line is going to translate into success. His scheme always has. The more time they get to develop it, the better it gets.

Moss and Gaffney played about 1Q.

Beck had a TD if Sellers wasn't in as the 4th TE. He's couldn't get separation and tripped. If that's Cooley it's an easy score.

Has Torain even played in the preseason yet? He was a beast last year but I haven't heard anything about him this year.

I will probably take Gaffney in my fantasy league. He's not on a great team and he's not the best receiver, but to me he's always had a knack for making big third down and end zone plays.

Zone blocking is nothing new anymore. It's still effective, but I'm surprised it still works as well as it does. What scares me about the Skins run game is that Shanahan seems to believe that all RBs are interchangeable. Hopefully he doesn't start benching guys like Hightower and Helu. I don't see it, but with him you never know. If Torain comes back healthy that could be a whole different problem with all 3.
