no way would this happen. One the Jets are likely to be a very mediocre team, and two as others have mentioned the overly confident cocky self promotion attitude is widely accepted and common place in football but frowned upon in hockey.

Swaggerville

Hey I see no reason it can't be translated to hockey. If the Bombers win the Grey Cup, maybe our signs at the city limits will say Welcome to Swaggerville, haha (it's not far off from what Edmonton did!).

If the Jets start winning as much as the Bombers, they should take on the name, assuming Mayor Willis approves.

That said, I don't think 'Swaggerville' works as much if the team isn't winning.

I really don't see the Jets ever adopting Swaggerville. As has been mentioned before in this thread, hockey is a different culture and I really don't think TNSE would have anything to do with it.

If the Bombers continue to play well and the Jets build a winner, I do see Swaggerville becoming Winnipeg's "City of Champions" though.

I think theres too much parady in the NHL to have any team adopt that label.

I get really irritated by self-depreciating Winnipeggers. Annoys the **** out me. We aren't that kind of city anymore.
