NHL.com 30 in 30 Wild Preview

NHL's 30 teams in 30 days series profiled the Wild today. Not a lot we don't know, but it's still interesting to see the league's national coverage of our offseason. Check the video at the bottom, too. Like most of the coverage I see, it seems to be the usual "we don't know this team so let's just predict they'll finish in the same place as last year" schtick, but I suppose "bubble team" is still better than the lottery pick we're projected for around these parts.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, forgot the link. Oops! http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=5...d-rr-headlines

Surprisingly fairly well done for a nhl.com piece on the Wild...

It wasn't put together in 10 minutes either. Or was it?

The fact that so much of it is spent on Heatley and Setoguchi should speak wonders as to how much our success this year hinges on them. Or how little Mikko Koivu gets written about.

I think we just expect Mikko to keep his game up. Look at the difference between the team before and after his injury last season and it's obvious how crucial he is. It was kind of eye-opening to me in terms of just how much the team depends on him. But he didn't get much talk in the article because he's not something that changed for this year, and because Setoguchi and Heatley are just more interesting topics. We don't know what to expect from them. Apart from being "the new guys," Seto has a reputation for inconsistency and Heatley is looking for a rebound year.

Saw that Justin Bourne tweeted how Heatley looked like he was in a lot better shape this summer. Boy that would be outstanding.
