For me I started with 10-team, and I find you still have to get pretty deep over the course of the season when dealing with injuries, busts, sleepers, etc. Especially with a flex. I don't like spending a tremendous amount of time studying guys who most people have never even heard of. I understand how some people enjoy that, but I'd rather spend my time trying to figure out which of the good players are gonna be great, rather than which of the unknowns may end up being good.

Thats cool if thats what you like to do, but to me, there is just no challenge there. When everyone's team is loaded, the thinking and strategy basically disappears (especially at the draft) because you all have stud players at every position and your not going to bench them for someone else unless of course, they get hurt or have their bye. I just dont see the fun in that. Yeah, its good to have a loaded roster, but everyones team is like that and theres just no challenge with only 10 teams.

I don't really have a problem with 10 I'd prefer 12 though and anything more than 14 is a little bit too much, even though I'm in a 16.

Im in 4 leagues. Two 10s and 12 and a 16.
One of the 10s I'm in I was just doing my cousin a favor because he needed someone last minute and it my last priority.
I didn't even draft any of my sleepers in that league b/c I can just add them on FA.

Here's my team in that league:

7 Ray Rice, Bal RB
14 Michael Turner, Atl RB
27 Tony Romo, Dal QB
34 Dez Bryant, Dal WR
47 Percy Harvin, Min WR
54 Mario Manningham, NYG WR
67 Felix Jones, Dal RB
74 Cedric Benson, Cin RB
87 Julio Jones, Atl WR
94 Marcedes Lewis, Jac TE
107 Jacoby Ford, Oak WR
114 Jimmy Graham, NO TE
127 Michael Crabtree, SF WR
134 Kyle Orton, Den QB
147 Danny Woodhead, NE RB
154 Vikings D/ST D/ST
167 Dan Carpenter, Mia K

I'll probably ended up dropping Crabtree and/or Woodhed for a sleeper(s) soon because 1 of the guys in that league are in my 12 team league I'm drafting tonight and I didn't want to show my hand.

3rd string RB??? What the hell roster are you looking at? My #3 RB is a starter, McGahee is the TD vulture in Denver and will start once Moreno gets injured, and Murray is Jones backup whose looked really good this preseason, and JJ loves the guy and will get more touches as the season goes on.
Marginal difference between a 10 and 12 team league really. Usually just a less heralded #2 RB and #2 WR but other than that the names are about the same ones that will come and go in a 10 team league over the season.

I'm just not really interested and don't see the appeal in partaking in a league where everyone will be dropping their busted "sleeper" pick by week 4. In your case Murray. Face it, you do it every year. Who knows, maybe grabbing a scrub like that has nothing to do with the league size and more to do with how little you know.

12 team league. I'm pretty happy with my draft, but a little worried about Manning at this point, though I think I can survive with Orton having Lloyd as a strong option. Starters in bold.

QB: Peyton Manning, Kyle Orton

RB: Chris Johnson, Tim Hightower, Reggie Bush, Michael Bush

WR: DeSean Jackson, Reggie Wayne, Wes Welker, Pierre Garcon, AJ Green

TE: Tony Gonzalez

DEF: Philadelphia, Kansas City

K: Stephen Gostkowski

Its different, yes, but its not as little a difference as you think. People tend to reach more in the draft because you have a few more picks to wait for until your next pick comes around, so things change fast. Players fall and players go too early, so it shifts things around more by the time your pick comes up. This is where the whole thinking and strategy comes in. And even with that, you can still end up with a ridiculous lineup if you just play your cards right. Larger leagues, add more drama, if you will, to the draft and thats what makes it more fun. I just dont see where the fun is when every team is loaded in the league, rather than actually having to strategize and build your team when more roadblocks hit you.

As for Murray, you (like most people) probably dont realize that he IS the backup for F. Jones and will play more than you think. Murray was my 15th round pick. For a guy who will get more touches as the season goes on, for a guy who the owner loves and will make sure he gets on the field, and for a guy who has had a really good preseason, that is great value. When your late in the draft, you take players with a combo of who will get playing time and their value. Just by you thinking Murray is a scrub proves you dont know much. Murrays average draft position is the 12th round, and I get him in round 15. Thats crazy value.

I dont blame you about being worried about Manning, especially if you have to go through most of the season with Orton as your starter. If he will be out longer than expected, you should think about trading one of your WR for a QB.

I'm not to that point. I don't think Orton is a terrible option, but not conducive to winning a championship. My thoughts were the same, though. If it becomes necessary I was thinking of using a WR for trade bait. But that's a few weeks down the road or until a much worse prognosis comes out.

I am quite confident that will be happening. Don't get me wrong, you might as well wait for now, but I have a bad feeling that Peyton will miss several weeks, the team will struggle, and by time Peyton could return they'll already be out of the playoffs and just shut him down for the year.

12 team auction:

Luck in 2012
Budget $200
1. (9) LeSean McCoy (Phi - RB) $38
2. (16) Vincent Jackson (SD - WR) $27
3. (36) Steven Jackson (StL - RB) $34
4. (38) Stephen Gostkowski (NE - K) $1
5. (67) Matt Ryan (Atl - QB) $16
6. (83) Jahvid Best (Det - RB) $15
7. (87) Jason Witten (Dal - TE) $17
8. (103) Jeremy Maclin (Phi - WR) $16
9. (110) Dallas (Dal - DEF) $1
10. (117) Antonio Brown (Pit - WR) $2
11. (126) Joe Flacco (Bal - QB) $3
12. (133) Malcom Floyd (SD - WR) $5
13. (134) Ryan Grant (GB - RB) $4
14. (136) Brandon Pettigrew (Det - TE) $5
15. (145) Danny Amendola (StL - WR) $16 (my last pick, used max bid)

Paid too much for Stephen Jackson for sure, although really I was just trying to drive up the price and went too far. Probably shouldn't have gone for Floyd and instead picked up another RB like Fred Jackson, but overall it's a meh draft. Don't really have an elite talent, but I like my depth especially at WR with Jackson, Maclin, Amendola, Floyd and Brown, and at least at RB I've got 3 feature backs and 1 who should be, depending on how much Starks gets used. And Witten/Pettigrew dives me a solid TE play every week. Pretty happy with the price I got for Matty Ice and I almost got Maclin for just 12 until another guy drove up the price

12 team league 3rd pick:

3 Jamaal Charles, KC RB
22 Darren McFadden, Oak RB
27 Ben Roethlisberger, Pit QB
46 Antonio Gates, SD TE
51 Felix Jones, Dal RB
70 Chad Ochocinco, NE WR
75 Julio Jones, Atl WR
94 Jacoby Ford, Oak WR
99 James Starks, GB RB
118 Greg Little, Cle WR
123 Roy Helu, Wsh RB
142 Robert Meachem, NO WR
147 Delone Carter, Ind RB
166 Colt McCoy, Cle QB
171 Falcons D/ST D/ST
190 Dan Carpenter, Mia K

-I absolutely hate my WRs.
QBs flew off the board and if I didn't take Ben in round 3 I woulda been left with like Bradford as my starter. By the time it got back to me in round 4/5 Gates and Jones were better than any WR on the board(S.Smith, Green, etc.).
Some dude took 5 WRs before he took a 2nd RB. I gotta hope my WRs reach their upside.

-I love my RBs though.

13th pick in a 16 team league. It's pretty much standard scoring and positions but we use an offensive utility position (QB/RB/WR/TE) instead of the typical RB/WR flex. Since QBs tend to score higher than any other offensive position, they tend to go a little bit higher in this league as a result.

13) Michael Turner
20) Calvin Johnson
45) Matt Schaub
52) Beanie Wells
77) James Starks
84) A.J. Green
109) Reggie Bush
116) Jimmy Graham
141) Donovan McNabb
148) Davone Bess
173) Ben Tate
180) Nate Burleson
205) Javon Ringer
212) Stephan Ridley
237) Vince Young
244) Visanthe Shiancoe
269) Dallas D/ST
276) Lawrence Tynes

The draft was a little over a week ago. Chris Johnson was still holding out, so I though the Ringer pick was one of the better ones at the time. Starks was a pretty brutal pick regardless though. I was down to him and Ocho in the 5th and probably should have taken Ocho so I wouldn't have to reach on Green to make up for it. I think the only saving grace for the Starks pick is if he wrestles the full load away from the split he and Grant have right now.

No idea why I took so many RBs because I usually don't. I think it's because I struggled last year with a four man rotation of Best, Ryan Mathews, BGE, and Danny Woodhead so I guess I wanted to make sure I had that covered for this year. WRs are definitely a bit thin and Dallas is somewhat of a risk/reward gamble. I'll probably have to grab another one and play matchups each week.

5) Benjarvus Green-Ellis
6) Brandon Pettigrew
7) Jonathan Stewart
8) Michael Crabtree
9) Robert Meachem
10) Chargers
