What about having the team that is behind in the standings wear the avatar's of the winning team's choice? And keep it running as the season goes along?
So as long as the Kings are ahead, the Sharks fans where the assigned avatars, and if the Sharks pull ahead, the Kings fans then have to wear the assigned avatars and so on as the season goes?
Oilers fans have no place in this discussion. Maybe in 5 years.
Question - does everyone realize that the deal is for the LOSING team's members to use avatars of the the LOSING fan base's choosing?
What's the point, then? Shouldn't the WINNING fan base be deciding what the LOSING fan base is using until the WINNING team is eliminated?
Thats my mistake. I just worded it wrong. The Winning fans gets to decide what avatars the losing fans have to wear for duration of the winning teams stanley cup run.
I am in, but I'd like to make the following comments about when the avatars should be sported:
1) Part of the fun of HF Boards is deciding upon playoff avatars. In the OP's proposal, one of the fanbases does not get to have their own playoff avatar as long as the other team is in it. Theoretically, LA fans would have to rock the SJ avatars until knocking them out in the WCF. In actuality, SJ fans would have to rock the LA avatars until being bounced out of the WCF by LA. Either way, I don't want to take the playoff avatar out of either fanbase's hands.
2) While the idea of changing them throughout the regular season is novel and pretty cool in theory, it will fall short in practice as people will not be changing their avatars all the time in the event that the race is close. I mean...check out how many of us are still using last season's playoff avatars for Christ's sake. Talk about a bunch of lazy bums.
To still make the bet have teeth, in lieu of using the other team's avatar during the playoffs, I would propose the following:
Losing fanbase has to use the other fanbase's avatar the moment the losing fanbase's team is out of the playoffs. Then, the losing fanbase has to use an avatar of the other fanbase's choosing until training camp opens in September. This way, San Jose fans can be reminded that not only did they get bounced out of the playoffs again, but they also did not win the division The summer-long avatar need not be the playoff avatar as I'd imagine special avatars made specifically for this bet would work better.

I'm just wondering why an Oilers fan is bothering to post in a Kings/Sharks avatar thread, and then complaining about being added to a list.
I had an interesting (I thought) alternative to the punishment phase of the bet. Im also mulling over following the Kings as a "plan B" team as mine is likely to be golfing in may. I will consider taking part in the bet, but as of right now, I have not consented to it.
Just got a little chuckle as I saw my name on the list is all.
Two very good teams.
Im a little worried about where the offense is going to come from as far as the Kings are concerned though.

I think your idea is better. I don't want you guys having to wear our avatars the entire season. This way, you can just switch to the Sharks avatars after the first round.

You don't have to explain yourself to the thread police. Post in whatever thread you like. We don't care. It's not like you are trolling.
I am totally disappointed in the number of Sharks fans participating so far, especially since it was their idea. Looks like they maybe a little scared of us this year.
