Montreal Gazette: Andrei Kostitsyn has got to go (PHX, NYI, COL, NSH)
I said Stastny, not Duchene. PK is a franchise defenseman and a fan favourite, I don't think I'd have to include him in a package to acquire Paul Stastny let alone include him in the deal.
If my value is completely off (since I don't watch many games in the Western conference) would a Kostitsyn for Comeau deal be fair value for the Islanders fans here?
As a fan of both Avs and Habs I can tell you that Avs wouldn't touch a deal for Stastny that doesn't include PK. You say that PK is a fan favourite and a franchise D-man (wich is something I agree with), and then you forget that Stastny is a 25 year old all-star two-way center who has 0,92 PPG average, and he's also a fan favourite. You won't get him for a guy you want to get rid of, and who on top of that is an UFA at the end of the season, a depth defensman, and a draft pick that will probably be in the 20's.
I'd be more than fine with Tangradi+Niskanen or Wolski+2nd. Maybe Radulov's rights + a dman from Nashville too.
Why would they trade Radulov's rights, he said he wants to return to them when his KHL contract runs out, and if Preds could wait so long for him, they won't let him go so easily now.
"Hey, we think this guy needs to go. We also think he might end up in Colorado simply because we're not up-to-date on their finances and think they need to get over the cap. Which is a good enough reason for us to think that they might take this guy."
I'd be hesitant about re-uniting him with Brother Sergei. There are positives and negatives to having brothers on the same team; in the case of Andrei I see this relationship as more of a crutch than an inspiration.
Good way for the bored reporters to pass a little time in the summer. But AK doesn't "need" to go. He just said what everybody already knew anyway, including Martin. They'll be able to proceed just as before, and AK will probably be a free agent in the summer.
Why? don't we have enough inconsistent wingers already, don't want him, don't need him
AK is a guy I could possibly see fitting in next to the Sedins. If he did, he'd easily pot 30 goals and allow us to move Burrows down to play with Kesler.
Sedin-Sedin-Kostitsyn
Burrows-Kesler-Samuelsson
That isn't a bad top 6, especially considering all of Sturm, Raymond, and Higgins will also be pushing for a spot. AK has a large frame and good finish, he'd be a guy I'd be willing to take a chance on if we could grab him for a 1st and mid prospect.
Why would they trade Radulov's rights, he said he wants to return to them when his KHL contract runs out, and if Preds could wait so long for him, they won't let him go so easily now.
hmmm .... maybe it has something about signing a KHL contract while still under contract with the Preds. this does not speak well with player/organization relationship.
On another note - if it were possible to get AK here I'd be fine with it. Only question is does Nashville have a roster spot for him
How about Ak + 3round Vs radulov right + budish/Geoffrion
I honestly don't think Poile is going to trade Radulov's rights. Maybe a year ago, but not now. Reports are that his KHL team is having financial troubles and Poile is saying that there's a good chance he'll return next season.
I wouldnt be at all surprised if the avs made a move with the habs for andrei kostitsyn.
He provides more wing depth, something the avs lack, but also has the ability to play a top 6 role. With Hejduk possibly retiring soon, it could be a good tryout for AKost with the avs over a 1 year period. He fits the avs characteristics financially (his contract ending before the new CBA), so i would not be surprised.
These two teams have made a few deals together. Something similar to the O'Byrne trade but with obviously more value coming from the avs this time.
I don't get what his comments change. Everyone knew that he didn't love Martin. We all knew Martin wasn't AKs biggest fan. He said he wants more quality ice time :O what a shocker.
Poor interview done poorly. If AK was smarter he wouldn't thought about his answers more, but really doesn't change much in my books.
Regardless of whether its known that either doesnt like each other..
Its one thing to not like each other, and its a complete other to make it public to third parties.
How many players make negative comments about their coaches and or management and then stick around with their teams. Especially if they dont come out a day or 2 later to claim that they "mispoke."
