Didn't get to see him play much but it sucks to see a guy's life end no matter who they are. Hope his family gets moral support through this hard time.

Awful, awful news. Between Luc and Rick, I really feel for the guys in the locker room.

wow... Just horrible news.

R.I.P Rick. He was a cousin of my friend... I don't think they were very close though.

I'm so sorry, Vancouver fans. As a Rangers fan, I'm all too familiar with this situation.

There will surely be a pre-game tribute. Maybe a 37 patch?

The guy was basically around the team since the lockout - lots of ups and downs and you know this is going to be really tough on a lot of people who were close to him and knew what was going on.

I'd bet so. He's spent his whole pro career in the Canucks' organization. I doubt the Jets would mind. And it doesn't really matter, but Rypien was more of a fan favourite and well-known than Bourdon was. I think he should definately get a tribute before the opener.

Wouldn't be shocked if the team wore a patch through this season. Jets too possibly.

Wow, rip to the best pound-for-pound fighter in the league.

Another weird thing about this is when you go on youtube and watch the 'Introducing #37 Rypien' montage, the guy that made the video used the song 'Bro Hymn' by Pennywise, a song written about the accidental suicide of their bassist.

Horrible news. Rypien was tough as nails and probably the best p4p fighter in the NHL. I was confident he could play a full season and contribute in Winnipeg.

Rest In Peace Rick.

Sad to see his personal life and playing career go downhill so quickly and then end like this. Was one of my favorite players to watch in the last 5 years.

I would expect Winnipeg to do something since he spent several years playing for the Moose.
