Some things I learned from the WC's

- F Karthus. How (and why) he isn't an auto-first ban in competitive scene is beyond me. Requiem is the absolute deus ex machina. In one skirmish in game one, TPA had taken 3 of AF for NONE of of their own, and Barron. Ez and I think Irelia left. Then, Requiem rolls in and... Instant Triple Kill, and Maokai down to one bar. AF aces, and wins. It's an absolute ******** ability and needs to be either nerfed, or re-worked

- Jungle Maokai was picked in almost every game, of almost every round. I don't know what it is but, he is NEVER picked at low-elos, yet is an insta-lock in the comp scene. I guess it's his sustain mixed with ult that makes him so appealling?

- Ezreal is THE meta ADC right now. Literally no one stands up to him. Teams were locking Graves down all tourney, and Corki just doesnt do enough DPS. Others like Cait, Ashe, Varus, MF, Sivir, Draven, just don't cut it. The only one who I feel can carry in the same realm as Ez right now is Vayne.

Maokai needs to be protected. If he gets countered early and his team isn't on the same page to help him out he's worthless.

I think you get IP boosts if they reach a certain level.

DL has been playing Twitch on stream for a little while now, thinks he's OP. Too bad he's the only one who showed up that game.

Also, expecting to see more Yi's now.

Haven't been able to play a game yet, but what are everyone's thoughts on the changes so far?

The new jungle throws an absolute wrench in any and every meta. I played Skarner in it; he's terrible. I played Fiora in it; she's viable. My buddy says he got crapped on as Maokai, and he is an outstanding jungler.

It looks to me like we'll be seeing many more single-target junglers in the new meta. Talking Fiora, Master Yi, Diana, Darius, Warwick, Kha'zix, Fiddle, Noc, Rammus, Sion, Trundle... and a lot less of your meta-mainstays like Skarn, Amu, Mundo, Naut, and maybe even Lee

Maokai felt about the same as always. One of the faster clear times and not a ton of health lost. You just have to baby sit him if he gets countered, like always. The Mao/Amumu/Naut type could never fend for themselves.

The champions still work, the problem is just that a lot of them are forced to stick around the jungle for a lot longer now, which seems to be a 180 from what Riot was trying to do in season 2. Nocturne was probably the fastest clear I had, but he still needs kills to be a threat, and now he has to wait longer before he can go and get them.

I've been running Wukong jungle on and off and he seems to do pretty well.

This is what people thought initially when they saw the changes, but it has proven in the PBE to be not entirely true. The new jungle is still fresh and will take a lot of testing before conclusions can me made. One thing I guarantee you tho : Skarner and Amumu are still at worst A class junglers.

People still have Skarner in the top tier from what I can tell.

The changes are just that single target junglers are viable, and it's much more difficult to finish your route (or leave at level 2) and have enough health and/or movement speed to go gank somebody. If you have the health, you probably didn't buy boots. If you bought boots, you probably don't have the health.

All of the old top tiered junglers are still top tiered, such as Maoki, Nocturne, skarner, Amumu, Lee, and Mundo. It does slightly help single target junglers but AOE clearers are still faster. Basically every jungler has to start machete, Fiddle can start dorans ring, Mundo can start cloth armor, Warwick can start boots (but it makes his clearing terribly slow). On all the other junglers its not worth it, you likely will have to go base to buy pots again at level 3-4 which allows you to be counter jungled.

I think this update was a nerf to jungling because 300 gold is wasted on machete which doesnt help your jungler vs enemy champions, gold is the same as s2 jungle until after 11 minutes in where your not going to be constantly farming anyways. Then they removed heart of gold which was an essential item to most junglers and gave better health then sightstones. A lot of junglers builds were tanky builds with some utility, and going tanky has also been slightly nerfed.

The update is great for support with the utility mastery tree, sightstones(junglers should get as well), and a higher base gold per 10. Support don't even have to buy any gp10 items now(philosopher stone, Kages), the 225 gold flask thing is a good item for supports. All of this means support should be able to complete more then 1 big item.

I've just started getting into this game more after playing casually vs AI for quite awhile. I've been studying up by reading and watching pro streams/tournaments but it's still an awfully high learning curve to jump in to PvP.

My biggest annoyance is watching all these cool champs that I'd like to try but I have to spend all my IP on runes for various builds. I may finally cave and just buy a few Riot points as much as I don't want to.

If you ever want to team up or learn a thing or two, drop TwoMinuteViking a line. I'll show you some of the ropes.
