This just doesn't make sense, EDM is looking for an upgrade at D, not more depth...
How do you figure? Barker is a not so special PP specialist....Komisarek an overpaid 4-5 defensive d man? They couldn't be more different. Completely different styles, completely different skillsets.

I'm not saying Komisarek would return anything of value, just strongly disagree with your assessment. He would be the Oilers number 4 and definitely improve that defense.

Komisarek isn't as bad as many make him out to be..... It's his contract that deflates his value.

If Burke could get a 3rd or a 4th rounder for him, I think he takes it... Otherwise keep him and see if he regains some confidence.

Komisarek will be much easier to move in a year from now with only 1 left on his deal.

Surely one of the top 10 worst contracts in the league.
While I agree he's overpaid, if he's in the top 10 bad contracts, where does Horcoff sit on that list?

Whitney - Barker
Peckham - Gilbert
Smid - Sutton

I honestly don't think Komisarek is an upgrade on any of the guys the Oilers already have. The only way this might make sense is if it is Brule and Sutton for Komisarek and a pick.

But even then, I doubt it. Being rumored by Cloutier makes me very confident that there is nothing to this rumor. The guy has no clue.

Also in the top 10, and I don't think you would hear any Oilers fans gloating about Horcoff's wonderful cap hit or term anyway, ha ha.

Just wanted to check, seems like some people in this thread are heading in that direction

Man, if someone's hoping for Barker to pan out, they better be prepared for some massive disappointment.

I am not sure if edmonton is in Komi's plan cuz i know he has a limited NMC. Anyways aside from that, I can see us going for a player like brule as he is a borderline 3rd line to 2nd line player.

Agreed.

People forgot he cleared waivers already... He's completely lost his game.

Zeus3007 has him on the top pairing

As a Canadian who always hopes for the teams to do well, I hope he isn't on the top pairing.

Players with bad contracts are not assets in todays world. They are liabilities. I wish people would remember that in their trade proposals.

That's where I think he will start...I'm not saying Barker will be a star in Edmonton, but I'd be shocked if the Oilers didn't try to put him with Whitney. Its not like the Oilers have any top pair d-men other than Whitney at this point, is it?

Komisarek is at best a marginal upgrade over Sutton, and with his contract, it certainly isn't worth bringing him in. Barker could bounce back, if he is working as hard as reports claim he is. Remember, this kid is probably one more awful season away from playing in Europe. The motiviation to have a good year is definitely there.

you are underestimating komi quite a bit and valuing the others a tad bit too much my friend.

Sutton had diminished quite a bit and barker is a gamble, but none the less, out of those two, komi gives you the best bang for the buck, even if it comes at an expensive price.

I agree, Komisarek is the best bang into our proverbial salary cap's sack...

They just got rid of Souray, they don't need him back.

Only way Oil do this is if they're dumping Gilbert or Horcoff in return.

Bozak & Komi for Horcoff....Maybe.

no

leafs don't want or need horcoff.... and why would we have to add anyways... Edmonton would have to add to horcoff because of his horrid contract (worse than Komi's)

Komisarek has a limited NTC, he submits a list of places where he doesn't want to play. We would have to add though to get Hemsky

I think we should keep Komi though 3rd line minutes and getting grater than 100 hits and blocks is decent. The cap hit is high but we have 6 million before signing Schenn.

Lupul - Connolly - Kessel
Kulemin - Grabo - Hemsky
MacArthur - Lombo/Bozak - Armstrong

That's a complete forward group as you could ask for.

No thanks on Komi, that is an absolute negative value trade for the Oilers. Nice try offloading your garbage for good players, seems to be the norm around here.

No thanks to Komi. He might be a slight upgrade on some of the D we currently have, but I have no interest in taking on his cap hit.

funny how you guys are offering Horcoff and other negative valued pieces (which have more negative value than Komi)

Did I make any offers? Didn't think so. Leafs can keep their garbage. If you want value you're gonna have to give up value.

where did Leaf fans try to aquire "value" for our "garbage"?

The closest thing to that was people saying we'll exchange our garbage for your garbage.
