Hannay isn't even signed yet so no guarantee he's gone...
No rumours on who it would be. Bobby just said in an interview a while back that they may be able to bring over a high-end euro. May mean trading with Sherbrooke to get the first qmjhl euro selection.
As for Hannay, based on his play this year I totally expect him to get a pro contract. I just figure Vancouver will want to get him into their farm system asap to control his development, as opposed to him playing in the Q as a 20.
Ciampini and Lovell are probably our most available players to trade. Boudreau would be available in a move for Duffy, but then 2 years from now we'd be possibly losing both of our scoring C's.
Is Duffy worth Boudreau ++? I'm not sure. Plus we have question marks on filling out our Defence that need to be addressed too. Just not sure we can afford Duffy's pricetag right now.
There's a reason why people want to compare Nate to Crosby. Beauty goal for sure!
Honestly, I'm a big fan of Nate's, I really am. But the scouts who made that comparison are out to lunch. He just isn't on Sid's level, which isn't an insult to Nate. The kid has amazing wheels for his age and great puck handling skills (2 SICK goals in the series, he scored an absolute beauty in Halifax, too) and the best kid in the Q since Sid and even in the past 20 years there isn't many as good as what he is and he is a surefire number 1 pick next year it seems with a bright future. But Sid was only a month older than Nate when he was a rookie in the Q and had 150 points! Nearly double the point total and also made Team Canada.
But I am excited as Mooseheads finally have a potential big star (forward, not counting goalies) going to the NHL. Tanguay did alright but was never a big star and Nagy had potential but injuries followed him. Leclaire had that one really good year then tailed off. Giguere is the only "star" we've really had. No forwards. Drouin could be something, too and Frk has that potential too (he'd be much higher in the draft this year if not for the concussion). So we actually have a few that could be something special. Really looking forward to next year and the farther they go this year, it is that much better for next.

I don't think any scouts made that comparison. It's got media written all over it: "next talented hockey player" "playing for Shattuck" "from Cole Harbour"

Of course he's not on Sid's level... but you can see similarities in their style of play. That's what I was getting at and I'm sure when you read that, it's what they are talking about.
He's modestly physical, a work horse on the boards, awesome hands and speed, and protects the puck well. He can definitely be a high floater and have his lazy periods, but he makes up for it in his exceptional raw skill.
I think at this point Kovalchuk is a fair comparison in play style. That's a really good one the more I think about it, I like it. He definitely carries the same flair that Kovalchuk does. He will probably also be similar in size when he fully matures.
I hope so. Duffy is a great player, would fit nicely on the Moose
Would make this team unreal... But no way at the Rockets apparent asking price... Bobby and Cam will ensure no more 08-11 (stretch of hell). Obviously everyone needs a rebuild, but that was a horrible stretch and we won't blow all our assets on a forward... Unless a Defenseman is acquired first and we still have assets left over...

Oh ya, I figured you knew that and my comment wasn't directed at you. I just was referring to the scouts who said that. Easy to compare 2 kids both from Cole Harbour playing on all the same teams growing up and eventually going first overall. But the skill level isn't the same. Mind you, Nate has potential to be a superstar in the NHL and could improve greatly even before the draft. So he could get there but at this point, he isn't on that level.
I've seen him a few times and he kind of reminds me of Nash.
Ya I like that more than Kovy. Kovy will quit in the playoffs too jk, Nash seems like a more accurate description. He'll have to put on some weight but he's got the skill set.

A lot of people have compared him to Stamkos, which sounds about right to me.
I find the Nash comparison impossible, since Nash is about 5 inches taller, 30lbs heavier and uses his size as an extremely important part of his game.

I agree, a Nash comparison is just not realistic at this point considering a huge element of Nash's game is using his size to his advantage which MacKinnon currently doesn't have. His explosive speed, quick release, and slick hands is speaking Kovalchuk to me.
Big win by the boys to make it 3-1, anyone see the big brawl at the end? Patty Roy tried to send his goalie down to fight Fucale.
I was there. Roy was standing on the bench like usual. I was the guy screaming at Louis the goaltender all night. If anything, he should've fought so that he would've proven everything I said was wrong. Friday's game is going to be insane man.
