can't speak for Avs fans but most Wings fans are pretty indifferent towards the Avs nowadays

While I think LA & Ana will challenge for the Pacific , Sharks are the team to beat. Improved their D tremendously(top 5 NHL), Niemi with a full year under his belt, a top 6 that can play with anyone, top 5 PP. Sharks win the Pacific by 8-10 points.

Felt like since we have the East prediction thread bumped, we could use a West prediction thread.

he got 1 right, but failed miserably at the other one's lol.

sharks aren't the team to beat in the pacific, they won't win the division by 8-10 points, niemi blows, they don't have a top 6 that can rival any team, the defense sucks.

Hey, on at least one of these prediction threads, I had the Jackets winning the Central.

So, yeah. Hindsight's fun.

Weird looking back @ this. Never would have imagined then the Ducks falling this far (or the Wild for that matter after their 21-8 start). Totally overrated the Jackets too. But I got what I think I will be 7/8 playoff teams

St. Louis you suck! My team's better!
This was from a different thread, but it's funny how close this is if you switch Columbus and St. Louis. May be a bit of a jerk move to rub it in, but Columbus fans were pretty funny in the offseason.

The best was Sabres fans. If you had their team ranked anywhere below 5th, wow, some of them came at you with full force!

Outside the top 6 I think it drops off and any of those teams could grab the last two spots.
ouch

Nashville got worse this summer, and St. Louis is the same team as last year. All they proved to us was that they can start hot. I think the Blues should make the playoffs but it's getting a little ridiculous how badly some people are overrating them on here.

I can guarantee you that the division winner will be Detroit or Chicago.

I just love looking back and seeing this logic:

"Well this team added player X and lost nobody. That means they can not fall in the standings."

and

"Well this team did nothing over the off season. That means they can not move up in the standings at all."

It's more of the teams that made the playoffs last year, make it this year minus one or two if I'm feeling bold.

Still can't believe I thought Columbus was a playoff team.

Columbus fans got SO offended when somebody rated the Blues higher than the Jackets. They would demand an explanation from the poster on why they think the Blues are better.

And I really don't understand why Aves fans get so mad that people have them as a bad team this year. They were a bad team last year and didn't improve much. 2 + 2 = 4

Ah, hindsight is amazing. I think the best part of this thread was all the people who were defending their team vehemently and now they aren't even in the playoff picture, or just barely. Donno if I posted but my standings were:

1. San Jose
2. Vancouver
3. Detroit
4. Chicago
5. LA
6. Nashville
7. St. Louis
8. Anaheim
------------------
9. Colorado
10. Columbus
11. Dallas
12. Calgary
13. Minnesota
14. Edmonton
15. Phoenix

Just again shows how much HF boards overrates "teams that made it last year + teams that made big splashes in FA." Phoenix and Dallas were doomed because their big name FAs were taken away. Columbus was a playoff team because they got shiny new names.

I really hope some people remember eating crow when the prediction threads pop up in the offseason. But of course they won't, and people will overwhelmingly and vehemently defend predictions based on "they didn't get better over the summer." Because spending money is the only way for a team to improve, of course.

Calgary left another point on the table tonight and with 83 points and 7 games left I think they are done.

San Jose pretty much has to beat Boston tonight and hope that the blues can beat the Kings to keep from falling back to far.
