Whoops. Shows how much I knew about him before he got on the Stars. I just assumed he was rushed because he went straight from Timra to Dallas. I didn't know he already had a year in the AHL under his belt.

well he has been picking up points lately, so something tells me he is due for an injury

Yeah, as a Penguin fan, anytime a player does very well, injuries seem to follow. Crosby, Letang, Neal, and Staal... yeah, know all to well about that game. I have to laugh. It's funny how much bad luck that team has had lately.

41 points in 51 games in the SEL at 21 was very promising. I believe he has an offensive game. 5 points in past 4 NHL games seeing limited ice time. I think it's premature to throw out the label of his offensive upside being limited or that he doesn't have enough game to become an eventual top-six forward. Granted, I am not saying he's a lock either. I do know he has good hands, a good hockey IQ, and his skating is above average. All of this suggests, given the opportunity and if he can put it all together, he could develop into a bonafied top six player. Remember folks, he's only 24. But even in the role he's in now, he's done well for himself and itched a nice place as a role player.

Wandell will slot into the 2nd line C spot between Morrow and Loui for the Anaheim game. Its now or never for Tommy to show that he can be a top 6 player. Might be his last chance with Dallas.

I don't know why you're being so dramatic.

He's now on pace for a career year offensively. I think he can get to 30 points a few times in his career. To me he seems like the type of guy who can thrive with good linemates but crumbles under the pressure of being the best player on his line.

Not trying to be dramatic, just saying that a lot of people harp on him not getting top 6 ice time to see what his potential is. Opinions vary about his worth, and the argument always comes up that he "never has gotten a far shake with skilled players." Now's his chance to show what he can do with it, before we get healthy and he gets dumped on the 4th line again.

If it ends up only being one game of top 6 minutes and he doesn't put up points, that's not really a fair oppurtunity. One game wouldn't prove anything one way or the other.

He's been getting just such an opportunity playing with the double-shifting Benn. And unsurprisingly he's been producing.

So you subtract Benn, add Loui... that's pretty much a wash. Then you've got Morrow. How much better is Morrow than Burish right at this moment in time? A little, I guess. There's going to be a huge mismatch in terms of how fast they play. I'm not sure playing with Morrow and Loui is any better of a situation than playing with Benn and Burish. He'll get a lot more time though, that's certain.

Could be quite a few more games, depending on the MRI results.

Wandell has done nothing in two years to prove that he's anything more than another interchangeable 4th line Euro jobber.

He's equivalent to Jaroslav Svoboda in terms of long-term impact on the organization.

When i saw scuba replied to this thread i came running to see him trashing wandell saying he beloned in the ECHL asa 4th liner, but i think for once he's spot on.

How did he do against Anaheim? See he got 4 shots on goal. Played 15 minutes of ES and 2 minutes on the PP. But numbers aside, how did he look?

Shots were kind of hmm awful, and he couldn't receive or make a pass too save his life its like his feet are out of sync with everything else almost

Wandell with Morrow on a same line = zero offense.

Another point and another 4 SOG... that gives him what? 6-1-5-6, +5, 16 SOG in his past 6 games? Not too shabby.

We're watching different games apparently. Wandell played really well and could have easily had 2 or 3 points tonight.

I have to really disagree with this. That pass was a step forward for Wandell. It may have taken a fortunate carom, but what's important was the intent. He was trying to make the right play. He wasn't holding on to the puck too long and going solo or just flinging it wildly at the net.

He could break Darryl Sittler's points in a game record and still be called the Bill Mikkelson of hockey. In case you're wondering who Bill is, he was the defenseman who sports the worst plus-minus in a season by a player. -82 in 59 games.

Since when is calling a generic 4th liner a generic 4th liner hate?
