I can't condone a player using a vanity number either. Some of you might say it's no big deal, but I think it's a huge red flag concerning his character and priorities.

He's kidding, but there are teams that have strict numbering. If you make yourself stand out it's not always a good thing; not saying the town is going to turn on Ziggy because of this #, but it is Ottawa...this town embraces boring like does Jim Watson's speeches.

If anything, Ziggy taking this number will add a little spice to the TO-OTT rivalry, and if the worst that happens is the Penguins get to the fnals because Crosby high-ticks Ziggy and it isn't called...I can live with that!

I know the bulk of this conversation is sarcastic, but I agree with this.

Mind you, I always wore #59. It wasn't because I was an egomaniac or anything like that...I just wore it because my original number (the low #9) was taken so I put my first little league baseball number in front of it and it stuck...and I really grew to love it. It just 'felt' right.

As for birth year numbers...as a Pens fan I'm okay with them for an obvious reason

As for high numbers in general. Good ol' Kingston boy Jay McKee wore #74.

The greatest player ever wore the nice and normal number of four.

Why the hell does Mike Zibanewho think he's better than Bobby Orr?

I don't know. Why did Doug Gilmour think he was better than Bobby Orr?

There was a lawsuit against him alleging that he had sex with a minor. Got traded during this period of time.

Have any other prospect numbers been assigned?

Runblad 7... obviously.. right?

Cowen when he was up previously wore 2 if memory serves correct.

Zib, 93.

What about guys like Silfverberg, Noesen, Puempel (sp?) when they're all ready to make the jump?
