DR7 Talks Defence

http://www.the6thsens.com/

Quote:
While much of the Senators world is buzzing because Daniel Alfredsson skated for the first time since undergoing back surgery, an under-the-radar article written about David Rundblad by Jonas Falhman has slowly been making the rounds on the Interwebs.
Nice find from the 6thSens with SteffeG chipping in with translation.

CPM, I encourage ya to spin this however you want. :-)

The next MAB? That's it, trade him now while his value is high. There's nothing to see here.

There's some nuance there that's needed I think. He's saying he'll never play like a Chris Phillips. When he's in the defensive zone he'll play defense and he'll do his best but he is an offensive defenseman and that's the style of play he'll stick to.

Like he said he will try to go for complicated solutions and high-risk plays. Kinda like Karlsson where he'll deke a checker as the last man back to pull off an outlet pass instead of doing a really safe 10 foot pass. There is a difference between a two-way defender and an offensive defenseman that goes beyond "being strong in your own zone".

He's also being humble saying that even then his play in his own zone is not his strength nor the center of his talent. The way Dorion talks about him I think he sees eye-to-eye with management.

We should have kept the 16th pick. Trade him while he still has some value.

I don't see what all the fuss i about. he is merely telling people that his defensive game will never be his best strength. he points out that his creativity and offence are going to be his trademarks which are true.

i really like that he is totally open to going to bingo to improve his game if need be. I think 20 games down there will do him wonders...

wait til our coaches get a hold of him. can't wait to see how he develop with so much raw talent. Good that we have a lot of 2 way minded coaches

Nothing to see here, we have to trust our coaching, simple as that.

Requires a grain of slat no doubt. But his comments on the AHL are great to hear.

"I'm gonna try the more advanced passes and complicated solutions. I'll have to compensate by being a really good offensive player." "

Something must get lost in translation, but that doesn't sound bad at all if you ask me.

I'll take MAB comparisons over Christian Backman.

Just gotta be honest with yourself.

I personally love that he's so positive about going to the AHL. Great news because he'll likely be there.

Now I'm going to go fondle some sweaters.

Geez, I hope he doesn't play like Phillips has the past few yrs he has been terrible, still don't understand resigning him. I hope Rundblad continues to do what got him here & won him the Salming Trophy to be the best offensive defenceman he can be in the NHL. He can't be worse than Karlsson defensively & the good news is that defence can be taught, great offensive skill like these two have comes naturally. I think in time both will be okay defensively & hopefully great offensively which should make up the difference.

Hmm... a player being realistic.

Seeing him, Karlsson on our PP is going to be great. And ensuring that he plays with a defensive defensemen when its regular play than all is good.

Nothing to see here folks....
