Uh, what? Drury would never be the Devils' #1 centre. That makes no sense.

The Devils are going to need a center for late faceoffs and penalty kills. Elias, Josefson, Henrique aren't going to cut it in those areas.

But like I said in my post... the part you obviously ignored who knows if he can even play.
If he wasn't hurt, he'd already be signed by now or he even would have been kept. Because his degenerative knee is, you know, degenerative, he's clearly not even as good (or awful) as he was last year. Every game he plays, he gets noticeably worse. Drury is done.

If the Devils want to sign him and waste 1 or 2M on him, go ahead. But don't be surprised if his leg falls off in training camp.

And no way would I ever take him over Steckel even at the same sticker price. Drury is dee oh en ee done.

No thank you very much.

Old, washed-up veterans are signed to ridiculous contracts and are put into huge roles in Ranger Land, but not in New Jersey.

Love how you call Salvador a salary dump and don't even acknowledge Gomez as one... even though he makes $4.45M more. HAHAHA

Classic.

EDIT: Oh wait, did you actually think Gomez was an asset in that trade? LOL

We've got Kovalchuk, Parise and Tedenby. We're good on speed.

That was the sound of Gomez flying far, far over your head.

right! lets go grab a near useless player, who barely fits in our depth chart, as a knee jerk move to somehow fill the void Zajac left. While this may be a time to try and acquire a scoring forward, there are no suitable options that won't cost us Parise. Just sit there, and wait it out. If some fans on here are right, Parise will just boost the stats of whatever centre plays with him anyways

You mean the Rolston who was coming off 3 straight 30 goal seasons and was the most highly sought after free agent on the market when he was signed?

Nice try...

Drury was captain of president trophy winners and scored back to back 65+ point seasons. Definitely not signing a player passed his prime. Rolston at the time of his signing was 35, Drury was 30.

Whoosh.

Why would the Devils trade their 2011 team MVP for one of the worst contracts in the league?

Wooosh.

That was the sound of you taking a time machine back to 2003. When you come back to the present, you'll see Gomez is a crap player with a worse contract.

As for Drury, I made a Drury > Zajac joke on our board a few weeks ago. Sooner or later, that turned into an Eklund rumor. Now it's becoming discussed legitimately here.

News flash, Drury is garbage. I would not want him back at 500k. I'd rather give the spot to Rod Pelley.

Signing Drury just further prevents Henrique from joining the NHL squad. No need for him.

Yes, because all players are automatically washed up as soon as they hit 35.

I don't get what you are saying....

The poster who I quoted said the Ranger sign washed up players passed their prime, I replied with the Rolston statement, who at this point IS a washed up player passed his prime.

What's hard to understand? At the time Rolston was signed he was not washed up. That's all I was trying to say.
