Oh dear... *flame suit on*.

Winnipeg would spit at that offer. That's not even close to enough to get Kane AND Bogosian.

if the 2012 first turns out to be a top 3-5 pick then the value is there, but ottawa would definitely improve with basically 2 free players for the 2011 season. Gonchar is nice, but he's an after thought when the older player in the deal is 21 years old... no thanks

ps. gonchar is your problem.. Hopefully our GM keeps up the model of not overpaying for marginal free agents

I guess I missed the part where a likely top 10 pick in a strong draft isn't awesome.

Figured as much.

NO way of getting Kane without Karlsson or more?

When I previewed this thread, all I could see was that Kane was going to Ottawa.

Naturally, I assumed it was going to be a Kane-for-Spezza type trade.

Imagine my reaction when I discovered it was Kane AND Bogosian for spare parts.

You can whatever you want about the value, but there is absolutely no way that Winnipeg would part with these two without receiving sure fire talent already in the NHL.

Woot!....first ever Ottawa-Winnipeg proposal I've come across

....as for the actually trade??......ummm, no thanks, doesn't really make sense for the Jets either.

No chance. Winnipeg has enough young offensive d-man. They don't need an old one with a poor contract, especially not for a potential top pairing d-man, and a probable first liner. Bogosian may be on the block, and Wierchoch and a possible high first is a good place to start, it may even get a deal done. Although, i do have a hard time seeing Ottawa trade that pick, especially to improve a position they are already strong at...

But including Kane makes it very unlikley. No player is untradeable, but Kane is close. First off, this deal would improve Ottawa to the point that the 1st may not be a top 10 pick, and thats the most important asset in this deal, and even if it was top 10 still, there's a very good chance the pick isn't going to be as good as Kane. On top of that this deal would set Winnipeg, a franchise just starting to get competitive, back at least 3-4 years. If you want Bogosian, then Wiercioch and a 1st in 12 is reasonable, but the risk from Ottawa makes me think they say no, and the lack of established players, and the uncertainty of the pick, makes me think Winnipeg still says no too. It seems to me if Winnipeg is going to move Bogosian, it's going to be his potential traded for more established players, not the other way around.

Considering that pick will likely be anywhere from #1-4, its not a TERRIBLE proposal, just a pretty bad one.

with the talent we have now and then adding a guy like Kane without taking away anything signifcant... plus this team being helthy... as good a chance as any at making the playoffs.

there is just way to much risk in the pick for the Jets to be moving Kane

The pick could be good ones but if Winnipeg was to go through with this (and they would never even think about it) now would be a bad time to do it. Adding Kane and Bogo to Ottawa could very well lower the value of the picks.

Silly idea.

If Ottawa adds Bogosian and Kane, there is a strong chance it's not top 10. Also, they look to have fixed their goaltending with the Anderson deal, which was their achilles heel last year.

Bob McKenzie, is that you?!

Don't pretend to know what happens with all the GM's in the NHL. As a Sens fan, I want to keep Gonchar for this season.

It'd still easily be a top 10. Kane and Bogosian are very good young players, but there's still not enough scoring production on Ottawa to be anything playoff worthy.

So Kane & Bogosian for Wiercoch, a salary dump, a 1st & 2nd?

Lets break this down.

Bogosian = Wiercoch (similar value anyhow, both are expected to be stud dmen)

Ottawa dumps Gonchar on Winnipeg & gives them a 2nd round pick for the favor.

So... Ottawa gets Kane for only a 2012 1st round pick??

No deal. Karlsson needs to be involved imo. Kane will be the face of Winnipeg franchise very soon.

Kane is 20years old and was a taken 4th overall in 2009
Bogosian is 21 years old and was taken 3rd overall in 2008

And these people think Ottawa's 1st in 2012 because it could be a top 10 pick is the most valuable asset in this deal.

****ing hilarious

Well if it was Rundblad and 2 out of Zibanejad, Silfverberg or Noesen for E.Kane+Bogosian and conditional 2nd's depending on how Bogosian develops and how the 3 coming back from Ott develop. Ill lay it out. If Bogo poops the bed then Win would owe Ott a 2nd and if Rundblad lays an egg then Ott would owe Win a 2nd. So the trade would be
To Ottawa: E.Kane+Bogosian+Conditional 2nd

To Winnipeg: Rundblad+conditional 2nd and any 2 out of Zibanejad, Silfverberg and Noesen

Basically Ottawa is getting a player in Kane who's odds are 90% or better that he will be a 1st line player and about 50-50 I'd say for Bogosian to be a top 4 D that's why they have to give 3 guys who are about 75% ers.
