I wish. Too bad local laws don't allow me to own that kind of glassware because it's so often used to make meth.

As a musician I get paid in cash a lot. That covers most of my daily expenses anything other than that I go credit cards mainly. Debit is for kids.

I have no idea why people use debit cards that have crappy rewards.
Some of them might not have enough credit history to get one of the really good reward cards I guess. Plus I think a lot of younger people don't realize how important building a good credit history is; it's not just about getting a home or car loan down the road, most decent apartments will look at your credit score before renting a place to you, it can increase your utility costs, hell some employers even look at your credit when making hiring decisions. Bad or no credit WILL cost you money in the long run, and that's even before looking at rewards.

My primary credit card gets me 5% cash back on gas and groceries. That alone makes it worthwhile, as it's worth several hundred dollars a year. On another card I accumulate enough points to get hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of stuff a year. It's like free money, why the hell would I choose to use a debit card that gives me nothing instead?

Credit card. Cash back rewards ftw.

Virtually never use cash. It's so archaic.

This is what's wrong with society.

People think if you use a credit card it's because you don't have the money to pay for it. I use credit for ALL my purchases. I pay my bill and have never ever payed a penny of interest. I used to get cashback and made 200-300 bucks a year. Now I get aeroplan points. Not to mention it is great for my credit rating. My credit score is killer. Banks love it when you're able to borrow money and pay them back with no problems.

Regardless, if you have empty credit cards (as in you pay the balance off monthly) it would be ******** not to use them. Not only do you get points or rewards, its also a lot easier to get your money back should someone screw you over and/or steal your credit card info (assuming you actually have some money to steal in your bank acct).
Plus most Credit Cards also offer free extended warranty and free purchase security.

As long as you pay your balance in full and on time every month Credit Cards are the best.

And you get to keep your money making interest for an extra month.

There really aren't any benefits to Debit Cards, unless you have a hard time managing your Credit.

Yep... idiots. Citi already said that they will NOT being doing this. Not to mention this day in age, there are plenty of banks you can use online without an actual location, that are free, reputable, and secure as well. If you're worried about how you'd deposit a check, you can scan them in now, and the bigger boys have apps to do that which I'm sure most have seen.

I know I'll be getting rid of BOA, as they don't really do anything for me to consider staying. Not to even mention that I get a thing from Chase once a month with a $100 offer to switch to their free checking and savings.

Any idea when they $5/mo for debit card usage kicks into place?

Debit. It's unlimited for me as long as my balance stays above a certain amount. Only use Credit for buying stuff online, when I'm out of the country and for bigger purchases.

Use Debit card for every day purchases.

Use travel prepaid credit card for Online purchases and large purchases (when I bought my laptop for example).

Rarely use cash except for weed, bar, alcohol and cabs. Whatever's leftover, I use at the coffee house and whatnot.

I usually get cash-back at the check-out when I use my debit card when I need cash - saves me a trip to the bank.
