Awesome. Hopefully I'll also have the chance to pop over to Oshawa and catch some games, and if not, I'll look forward to reading all about it.

p.s. I'm expecting Harrington to dominate the tournament and earn MVP honors

Kenny and Joe will kill them all. Or is this only "new prospects", not regulars at WBS?

Would love to see Agostino or Bennett there, but school will begin by then so I don't think college guys participate.

Steelcity: can you confirm if there's an age/experience cut-off? I'm just wondering if the older pros (such as Vitale, N. Johnson, etc.) are able to participate...

Well here's last year's roster,

Quote:
Besides Thiessen, here is the rest of the Penguins' starting lineup: Dustin Jeffrey at center with Eric Tangradi and Tom Kuehnhackl on the wings. Simon Despres and Carl Sneep were on defense.

The remainder of the lineup:

Tyler Brown-Casey Pierro-Zabotel-Nick Peterson
Tayler Peters-Alex Smigelski-Keven Veilleux
Zach Sill-Geoff Walker-Ryan Schnell

Joe Rogalski-Brian Strait
Reid McNeill-Alex Grant

Pittsburgh's scratches include forward Joey Haddad, defenseman Robert Bortuzzo and goaltender Patrick Killeen. Mattias Modig will serve as the backup netminder behind Thiessen.
http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=537223

Looks like no college guys, and a mix of AHL and CHLers for the roster. Some try out guys were there as well so it may even be new guys/guys from prospect camps.

The age cut off is 24 I believe, but the Pens stop inviting players when they stop considering them "prospects".

They do not consider Vitale or Nick Johnson prospects at this point.

Do you think Sneep, Bortuzzo & Strait will all play?

None of them were invited to the prospect "camp" earlier in July, so it's tough to say...

Add Schnell as your 4th line RW and that could be it exactly

What about Street?

Either way I always look forward to this. It's such fun, exciting, entertaining hockey we finally get to watch.

Both of those players are over 24 years old anyways.

The Pens seem to only send players who are still on their entry level contracts who haven't made the NHL full-time yet. If they're on their second contract, then they don't go to the prospect tournament. At least, that's the way they've been doing it for the last couple of years.

Should be interesting to see which plays could potentially make the grade in the future and see those that have developed well over the year.

I think that's a requirement of your entry level contract. Sneep, Strait, and Bortuzzo will be required to go but they may not even play. Probably more for their leadership roles and to keep the first timers in line.

Modig has had really bad luck with his knee. After his injury around christmas last year his recovering was going like it should but in may when he was training with relatively small weight (60kilos I red from newspaper) his kneecap splited into 2 .... 2 weeks ago I red that they think that he will be 100% recovered after christmas???? That is ofcourse guesses and He have had a really ****y year..... If he returns from this he atleast knows what a bad year is! and maybe he will be stronger in his head!

I had heard that it would be around the New Year which is of course right around your time period. Was that you that told me about it in the ECHL board? Hopefully he can recover and continue his career. I would not wish that on anybody.

If I recall correctly, last year there were video feeds, but no commentary. It was like a jumbotron feed. But honestly, I don't even remember where I would have seen the feed. I don't think it's on NHL network because a whole bunch of teams have tournaments like this, and it would take way to much time to cover all of them.

I think it might have been on PensTV, or maybe the Ottawa equivalent. But I do think i caught bits and pieces of the games last year.

I remember the Maple Leafs website aired the Pens vs Leafs game when they played.

Hockey Streams aired games last year, but you need to pay. I think it's something like $10 for a week, $16 for a month. Looks like the site is down right now, but hopefully it gets back up. I was counting on this site to watch this year.

All three games will air on Penguins HD Radio (WXDX FM HD-2 and streamed live on www.pittsburghpenguins.com). Steve Mears and two-time Stanley Cup champion Phil Bourque will broadcast the action. Full tournament coverage can also be found at www.pittsburghpenguins.com.

I can confirm it will be on the Pens HD station. Mears and Bourque are heading there Friday to cover the games at the above schedule.

EDIT: Or as it says above. Fail.
