Isner now up 5-2 in the fourth. The Swiss must have really deeply questioned whom their choice of a fast and extremely high bouncing clay court would benefit more: their players, or 6'10" Isner, who can routinely hit kick serves above head level.

There it is. A second break for the set 6-2. Nicely done Fed. On to the events that really count I guess.

Federer losing to Isner... ouch.

France/Canada tie is getting underway, Tsonga vs. V-Pos.

e: just following on Twitter but it doesn't look like the first set went well for Pospisil, he lost 6-1.

Tsonga with the relatively easy point for his country as expected. Now Canada's hopes are hinged on Raonic winning his match. There's very little chance that Canada will be able to come back and win 3 straight matches if Raonic does indeed lose it.

Milos is up a set and on serve in the second. This indoor court really makes it sound like they're beating the crap out of the ball!

Edit: Up 2 sets to love and even in the third!

Big break by Milos to go up 6-5 in the third -- now has the chance to serve out the match.

Raonic just overpowered Benneteau.

Expected it to be 1-1 after day one and that's where we stand. Doubles match tomorrow is HUGE!

Raonic/Tsonga is gonna be huge too. It's the first rubber on Sunday so either Milos or Tsonga is gonna have the chance to close this thing out.

Absolutely fantastic match by Milos. He's so calm out there! Can't wait for doubles tomorrow!

Definitely. I would just love to have two chances to win instead of having to win both on Sunday (obv.).

Monfils out on the court after the second match. Sounds like if Canada wins the doubles match tomorrow then maybe he will go on Sunday.

Damien Cox is speculating that Milos may play doubles with Nestor becauae Vasek isn't playing great tennis and because his confidence is down. I like that idea.

JOHN ISNER!!!!!!!!!

What a legend!!!

I watched the first match, great fight by Fish, but my recording cut out just when Isner went up a break in the second. I cannot believe he won!!!

So representing his country doesn't really count, I guess??

Because Federer lost, I presume?

The majority of Davis Cup courts are unpredictable, prepared just for the tie. This one wasn't really any different, you expect weird bounces and unusual happenings.

Predictable response. The fact that you're only showing up to troll now, and that the match started at 4:00 AM in Eastern Australia tells me all I need to know. I watched both singles rubbers yesterday and the unpredictable bounces were atrocious even if it is a makeshift court. Yes, it was in general one of the highest bounces I've ever seen and if you've ever watched Isner you know he doesn't need any help to get kick on his serve. No, Davis Cup doesn't really count. I don't even have to explain that.

Anyway, high marks for John for a great match. Low marks for you for more subpar trolling.

Ah, let the poor guy troll. He's like an alcoholic and Roger is his scotch. At this stage, I don't think there is much that he can do about it even if he wanted to.

Thanks, but no. God, I suppose that I will have to watch the Canadian doubles match, though. I'll ask my partner to strap me into the chair and glue my eyelids open. Four people on a court at the same time is unnatural, possibly evil. (*sigh*)

I knew you'd show up! Now off to your Pens/Panthers board!

Milos/Daniel off to a scary start. The French team will be looking to expose their movement. Nestor is quite vocal on the court and is looking good.

Crazy seventh game in the first set for Canada to hold serve. I think it went to deuce #7 and they had to save about 3 break points.

e: ouch, Canada drops a disastrous tiebreaker 7-1.
