an Oiler fan posted this?
I would not trade Paajarvi for an aging defender. Even if Timonen is a great player.

As is very clear i don't follow the flyers that closely. I live and breath oilers though and would love timmonen to anchor our lame defense for a few years. One last shot and then if i am still off lets just call this thing dead

All terrible. Timmonen is too old to fit in the plans and he has a NTC as well, doubt he would waive for a team in the midst of a rebuild. Save our cap space and throw out loads of cash to a Weber or Suter or other significant YOUNG UFA next off-season is 1000x better.

We are still at the stopgap-slash-we-know-our-d-sucks-slash-it's-ok-if-we-don't-make-the-playoffs-this-year stage of the rebuild, adding Timmonen does not make us a playoff team, and trading 2 of our top young players + likely a high 2nd is counter productive at this point.

So yeah, kill it with fire.

Not questioning your love for the game, but I'm under the impression you don't know a whole lot about the Oilers.

After rnh petry is the best player we've got who might not play full time next year.

Mps could very well be marrian hossa V2.0.

Even without the second rounder... Even if Kimo waived his ntc and philly threw in a 2nd I'd want tambo's head on a stick.

I like wayne simmonds a lot, but he doesn't have enough offensive upside to be any more than a third liner. If he stayed for the long haul there's a good chance he'd be on our forth line within three years.

Big no thanks from me.

This makes absolutely no sense for the Oilers.

It looks to me that the Oilers have committed to building through the draft and I get the feeling we aren't going to see them trading for older players until they are ready to contend for a playoff spot. That is probably going to be soon, but I think they have to prove it to management first.

The Smyth trade was a different type of situation.

If he was a Oiler fan, he wouldn't wanting to trade MPS. The proposal doesn't make sense.

Why would Timonen give up NMC and go to the one of worst team in league to play year or two??

I would be on top of this from the Flyers Perspective (Oilers, not so much) since they probably won't be in on the cup this year and Paajarvi and Petry are two promising blue chippers not to mention an early second in a deep draft. I'd honestly rather see what Petry can do at the pro level now that he's done college though.

The Oilers do need someone like Timmonen, but not for such a short time frame at the expense of some of our potential future core.

While I don't think the trade is that far off I don't think I do it at this point in time. Maybe if we were a team stuck around 9th and looking for that next push.

If Timmonen was 28 not 36, maybe. Even then, I don't know that I'd do it haha.

No way. As much as I love Timonen, we aren't going to trade away Paajarvi for two years of Timonen. We're rebuilding, not going after players like Timonen to try and win the cup. This makes absolutely no sense for the Oilers.

So our best d-man prospect and one of our best forward prospects for a good, young two-way forward and an aging offensive d-man?

Pass.

I'd look at Paajarvi+ for Simmonds though.

Why? Paajarvi is already good defensively and has more upside then Simmonds.
