Wow. He put politics before his health.

He was a good man. Didn't agree with his views, but still a hard working man.

Sadly when I saw him in July, I knew it was only a matter of time.

RIP Mr Layton, you fought the good fight.

Awful. I had a ton of respect for him. Can this hideous summer end already, please?

The NDP was Jack Layton. The people of Quebec voted for him as their leader more than the NDP as their political Party. He was a very charismatic politician.

RIP Jack

Sad. The only politician I saw as a human being instead of the crook-liar-mafia friendly-vulture that make most of the politic population.

RIP Jack!!

Rest in peace, Jack. Regardless of whether or not you agreed with his political stance, he was a fighter thick and through.

Always admired his refusal to back down from a challenge, and to stick with what he believed.

Montreal guy, too.

On a side note: Mulcair runs in my riding, and he's pretty popular, I'm betting he's going to be the one to replace him.

I found out about this early in the morning by one of my friends, was very surprised to hear it even though it was evident he was having a hard time. Atleast he got to see all his hard work pay off!

My sympathies.

I remember an analyst saying that Mulcaire not named temporary leader was the sign that Jack wasn't coming back.

'cause you can't run as leader when you are the placeholder, and
If Jack would have really been expected back eventually, Mulcair was probably the best man to oversee the party in his absence.
