Great man, great politician.
I'm so sad right now.

Wow... that's sad and shocking.
RIP Jack. A politician with his heart in the right place... regardless of what you thought of his policies.
When I saw him on TV 4 weeks ago I was completely taken aback by his rapid deterioration.
The first thing that came to my mind was "Pat Burns".
Hopefully we will one day find a cure for all cancers....

If Canada would vote for a PM and a MP instead of simply voting for an MP, this man would have been the PM. I remember seeing him jump for joy from Gretzky's bar in Toronto when Crosby scored the Golden Goal. He was a normal Canadian with normal Canadian values and that's how he wanted to be, class all the way. The way he ended his last letter totally amazed me and those last lines will stay in my head for a long time.

His last letter. I teared up a bit.

Don't agree with his politics, but he was a patriot and a first class human being. My condolences go out to his family.
RIP smilin' Jack

There's so few politicians that I truly respect. He was one of them. He seemed to live what he claimed.
Very sad day.

Just heard this, RIP Jack.
We've lost one of the few good (should say great) politicians.

This came as a huge surprise to me. I just got back home two days ago after being out of the country for over a month so I had no idea his condition was so bad. It really hit hard when I learned about his passing this morning.
I think that before a great politician, he was more so a great man. Agree or not with his beliefs, no one could trash Layton, he was that damn likeable. Such a huge loss for this country, he'll be missed.

RIP Jack. Cancer gets the better of many families. I personally lost my grandfather this morning to a long battle.
I wish the Layton family all the best.

I lost my uncle to liver cancer in february 2010. With the way cancer is spreading, every person is going to be touched by it directly or indirectly.
My condolences to you and the Laytons. Jack was a fighter and while you can argue about his policies, he seemed so refreshing and inspiring.

Couldn't agree more. Jack seemed to be an honest man in a line of work where there weren't very many.
I appreciate the support, it's much needed at this time.
Thank you so much.

Such a sad loss. He was one of the few that was not a politician, but a human being fighting for humans.
Rest in peace Jack, so sad you could not stay and achieve what you wanted.
