Haha, I started writing all the was back in 2000, so I don't think I even would have had a chance to grade him. Probably would have been a 8.0-8.5 C most likely.

I think he's going to be an NHL'er. He proved as much last year. I just don't see him as a Top 4 guy. More of a 3rd pairing guy, playing 15-16 minutes a night. I hope he proves me wrong, but I just don't have his ceiling as high as other defense prospects in the organization.

I have Jan 26 circled, Barrie plays Plymouth, hopefully Wedgewood plays, assuming he is still on the team, I think he might be trade bait this year. I also have Feb 9th in mind becasue that is when Sarnia comes to town and it would be awesome to see Boucher play with the 2 top prospects of this years draft.
Corrente has to know this is a big year for him. If he's not prepared to fight tooth and nail this fall, he won't be long for this team anymore. I know he's got it in him to be an NHL'er, but his inability to stay healthy has really held him back and stunted his growth.

I'm expecting some regression from Fayne, because it will be tough for him to keep up the standard of play he set last season. I agree, he probably won't be in the top 4 once we develop the rest of the defensive prospects currently in the pipeline.

I've completely given up on Corrente. He's officially a bust in my book.

Ehh I never thought too highly of him to begin with. I think he can still stick around somewhere as a bottom pairing defenseman if he gets it together, but most likely not in NJ

He's not a bust yet, but he's running out of opportunities, and other prospects are catching up to him on the depth chart.

Hardly a bust, he's not Ivan Vishnevskiy, and at worst he'll be a 4th line RWer which is fine at this point.

Calling Corrente a bust now is premature.

I liked his play last season. Skates well, not a bad passing. He still has to clean his game, but I rather have him than Fraser at this point, because I think Corrente has more offensive abilities.
He's still ahead of the other prospects on he depth chart because he has more experience. But he has to clean his game to keep his spot on this team.

That trade absolutely stunned me, but Lou must have known he was just another 2nd round bust.

Call me optimistic, but I think this is the year he "arrives".

I REALLY hope he proves me wrong, but I haven't seen him do anything that warrants him being more than a 5-6 d-man, and with our depth of prospect d-men, i'd rather have fayne, taormina, urbom, burlon, and eventually merrill or gelinas using that role to get NHL experience for the next several years. Taormina and especially Fayne showed that they're better defensemen last season, so they should get the start before Corrente... Urbom was said to be "close" so I could see him taking that spot for his cup of coffee and possibly even stealing the spot.

He's ok to have as a 7th d-man, I guess. For a 1st round pick, that's bust status, IMO.

Corrente's skill-set is appealing enough that he's got a few chances left. I see him as an ideal depth defenseman, and would like to see him lock down the #6 spot, but would be okay with him as a long-term #7.

He's definitely a disappointment for a first round pick, but I don't think he's a bust. For skaters, I define a bust as a player who never makes it to 200 NHL games played. Corrente may make that still.

The trouble is, every time he looks like he'll stick on the team, he gets injured again.

Corrente is 22 years old. He's not a bust. Yet.

I have high hopes for him. He was playing incredibly well before his injuries.
