Most even trade ever

Iginla for Nieuwendyk was pretty fair. Nieuwendyk helped the stars win a stanley cup, was great for them, and now iginla is leading calgary.

well--then the Rick Viave/Bill Derlego for Jerry Butler and Tiger Williams deal is not as bad as history says it is--because--after all williams took the Nucks to the Stanley Cup finals and Vaive lead the laughs to nothing

Well, if Deadmarsh had stayed healthy, I'd say the Blake deal was pretty fair.

Zidlicky, Murray and Kloucek(Acquired with Ben Simon for Simon Gamache and Kirill Safronov on Dec. 2, 2003) for Dunham - was pretty fair

Are you kidding? New York got boned for a year of solid play by Dunham.

I'd say Chris Chelios for Denis Savard was a pretty even trade. Montreal wins the Cup, Chelios is the face of the Blackhawks for like, 10 years.

Though not a major deal, the Salo-Schaefer trade worked out well between Vancouver and Ottawa. Also the Brashear-Hlavac trade wasn't bad if you consider that Hlavac basically landed the Canucks Malik less than a year later. Both Malik and Brashear have been serviceable players for their new teams.

how about the arnott for guerin deal. NJ went on to win the cup with Arnott as #1 center and the oil got great production out of Guerin till they had to trade him for salary reasons.

Chelios for Savard was even???

I don't think Savard was the key in the habs winning the Cup and I'm pretty sure they would have won it too with Chelios. IMO, it was one of the worst trade Montreal made in years.

Wow... I agree it wasn't such a great deal but it is far from being the worst trade Montreal made in years.... anyone remember Réjean Houle?????

You nailed it, easily the fairest deal in recent history.

is there a single person in Calgary who would rather have Joe Nieuwendyk right now?

BrindA'Mour for Primeau was pretty fair, IMO. Both are solid hitters, great leaders, and have reasonable scoring abilities. I think Philly might have had a slight upper hand...but not a huge advantage.

obviously not one that will go down in history, but i've always thought the Sami Salo for Peter Schaefer trade was a great deal for both teams.
