Did you see if he was passing beers down the bar to his teammates?

Pretty much this - only he could make them flutter.

The team should get him a golden beer helmet (anti-wobbling model). And a special saucer stick with shock absorbers and gyroscope.

Before it's too late..

Granlund will play in today's EHT game against Russia, starting in 3,5 hours (6:30pm UTC+2) from the time this post was sent. I'd think there'll be streams available on livetv.ru/en for example, if anyone feels like seeing Mikael in action in a meaningless tournament.

Hope he plays well today. EHT sends the best players from each country that aren't in the NHL?

Not exactly, although Jalonen is trying to do that for Karjala Tournament, since the games are played in Finland and he has all this 'continuity' thing going on, trying to get as many World Champions from 2011 WHC team as possible. EHT games are often used for testing certain players to see if they could make the national team in WHC and generally help the players prepare for it.

E: Oh god, just realised how close to the scary 1000 post marker this thread has reached.

Ah, so a tryout in some sort of way. That's interesting. Well, let's hope he plays good today, he's been in a bit of a scoring slump. I can't wait to see how he does over here next year.

Watching him a bit he looks very solid on his skates but not very fast.

Great shot on the PP, first good shot I've seen since watching (late 1st period). He looks a LOT like PMB, except he has a wrist shot.

Granlund is terrible at center.

If he becomes an NHLer someday it'll be as a winger. Mark my words.

Wish I could watch the stream, but a netbook doesn't like streams very much.

Watched the last half of that 2nd period - Ho hum affair. Saw Granlund get a shot off on the power play, not much else. Looks like he's playing RW today.

Thanks for the link, nice getting to see Granlund in action live. Didn't get to see the 1st, but it looks like Finland has the same power play as the Wild; spent seemingly the entire 2nd on PP and still down 1-0.

Now I just need someone to translate Russian for me, though to be fair now that I've made out most of the players names I'm getting as much info in Russian as I do watching the Wild TV feed

I dunno, everybody is playing like crap in that game. No offensive chances on either side of the ice, lots of dump and chase, lots of decent defense, but not a lot of action. One of the Finnish wingers (looked like a lefty using a white stick, can't read the numbers or names worth a crap, can't find a roster) was pretty fun to watch though, forechecking and hitting like Clutterbuck.

Yes, it's very similar wathcing Finland national team and Wild. Always an underdog, not too much scoring, must rely on goalies.. Maybe that's why I'm a Wild fan, feels homely

Sounds like Leo Komarov. Hits hard, speaks was it 5 different languages and can get garbage goals. So Clutterbuck and add there +10 agitating ability. Oh and has mustache due to Movember.

Latexi trolling as usual 8). Anyways Janne Pesonen who plays in Granlunds line is making it a lot harder for him. Pesonen just got to the lineup because he was in the gold winning team. Otherwise has played bad the whole season and is afraid of physical play.

Vatanen just made goal and Granlund got an assists. 1-1

No my bad. Komarov has a black stick. It must be Antti Pihlstrom. Speedy human missile. He tried in Nashville / Milwaukee but never made it for good.

Komarov is probably the best 3rd liner not playing in NHL atm. He will sign somewhere in the future. Toronto was hard after him, but he signed continuation contract with Dynamo.

I think Granlund looks exhausted. Heavy feet. Or at least nothing like last spring, when he looked quick & energetic. I could be wrong, I haven'tbeen able to follow his play in FEL, so maybe HIFK fans could comment this.
