Jarkko Ruutu to Jokerit with 2+2yrs deal.

I have no links to back this one up but I'm almost sure that it will happen. What I've heard is that J. Ruutu and Kekäläinen have made oral deal on the terms but Jarkko is still trying to get NHL deal. If no NHL team is interested this will happen.

I don't like these news because Jokerit is the only team I dislike in FEL and Jarkko Ruutu is a HIFK player to me like Pavel Datsyuk is a part of Wings. Time to change my nickname if this comes true.

Minor signings thread would be a better place for this, or players heading overseas.

When I think about it you might be right, my love for Jarkko Ruutu and the shock effect might have made me think that this would interest other people Sorry and moderators can move this if they see it the same way.

I wish Ruutu could find a job in the NHL. One of the best at what he does, and he's still effective.

That sucks. I love watching Jarkko work, even when it's against my team.

Ruutu is not a great player anymore but he's an alright 4th liner and he seems like a great locker room guy. Not like a super ra-ra guy, but when I've met him he has seemed very kind, humble, intelligent, and dedicated to the team. He could be more physical than he has been recently, as he sometimes finds another gear but I think he really is more effective on a successful team. I think he'd actually fit nice on Detroit. Great system and they could use a bit of what he brings. Wings have a great, organized system which is perfect for Ruutu, as he is quite skilled but he has no on ice intelligence (best example is when he took a slapper from the blueline one a 2-0 shorthanded break, or something like that), so organization benefits him more than most. Wings dont really have much room for him though, depending on who makes the team. Maybe he could be a good 13th forward. I'd also like to see him maybe play for Winnipeg. I hope he gets his wish and can play in the NHL next year.

Wish him the best, always played hard - maybe not the smartest player at times, but worked hard and did his job effectively.

Huge loss for the NHL community.

The amount of biters in the league significantly dropped today.

I will miss him if it's true. There's something about seeing Ruutu cheapshot somebody and smile as the guy comes after him. I'm trying to remember which enforcer it was who said that sometimes you really didn't want to step up and defend him.

LÖL What kind of an a*s*ole signs with Jokerit? He would have had a legend status in Stadi if he came here. In Jokerit he's just another traitor from HIFK.

I hope Melart takes him out when the league starts.

Traitor.

Surprised no nhl team has signed him. Is he that old? Thought he was still somewhat useful.

That being said, i wont miss him. Good riddance actually.

If Jarkko would lower his salary he would definately still land a job in the NHL.

Maybe he doesn't want travel and live hotel life for low price so playing in Europe/Finland is option. Jokerit is offering him a deal where the last years would be some work around the team business (if he retires). Jarkko is educated man and intelligent guy off the ice who wants work around hockey and HIFK wasn't offering much. And these are rumors also.

Hated him in HIFK and loved in NHL and if he comes to Jokerit I will not come mad like some other Jokerit-fans. It's business and loyalty to some teams doesn't count that much these days..especially in Jarkko's profile. I wouldn't count him as IFK legend.

I think KHL teams would try to land him but not sure is Ruutu interested.

Has he said he won't accept a lessor contract amount?
