I don't see any benefit for the club not to wear them once per season, unless they are adverse to a sellout crowd and a big spike in merchandise sales.

I think the first one was as well. And IIRC, we had a game last year on St. Patricks Day, but it was away.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the throwback game is on 3/17 as expected. Maybe a calendar.
Playing on St. Patrick's Day doesn't really have any bearing on the jerseys. It would be more appropriate around Christmas time anyway. Plus playing the day of St. Patty's simply means a packed train ride on the way home because of all the 20 year old alcoholics in the city.

Didn't they announce retro night as 3/17 during the initial on-sale period for single game tickets?
If I remember correctly, wasn't there was a presale for Opening Night and Retro Night before those two games went on sale to the general public? And then a week later the same process for the remaining games?
Edit: Here's an article from August about the presale(s) I mentioned, including retro night being 3/17.

I know its 4 but you could mange to get one somewhere else then just have that person sit there. I am sure there will be an empty seat around there.
