North Korean Special Forces vs. US Army Rangers

Introduction,
In strictly a ground battle against two tough forces, we pit these two admirable forces against each other in a hypothetical battle of what ifs. North Korea's most battle hardened Special Forces against the United States's US Army Rangers. We try to determine who would win if equal numbers of each force went against each other in different scenarios. We try to determine who has the better quality soldier. This is about quality, not quanity for we all know the Americans have that for sure.

North Korean Special Forces

Pedigree: North Korean Special Forces also known as they are a battle tested group having fought several wars WW2, Korean War and are considered one of the toughest special forces in all of Asia.

Vital Stats:
Mid Range Weapons: Type 68 AKM

Long Range Weapons: PSL

Special Weapons: Anti-Personel Box Mine

Close Combat: Hapkido, Taekwondo Tactics

vs.

US Army Rangers

Pedigree: US Army Rangers have battle experiences all over the Middle East and 3rd World Countries and have seen action in Mogadishu, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Latin America. This group is a crack force and are resilient.

Vital Stats:
Mid Range Weapons: M4 Assault Rifle

Long Range Weapons: SR-25 Sniper Rifle

Special Weapons: Claymore Mine

Close Combat: Special Operatives Combat Program

Who would win this bloody contest?

Scenario 1:
An equally sized force of US Army Rangers invade North Korea against an equally sized force of North Korean special forces, do US Army Rangers have an advantage? or disadvantage? Would fighting on home soil & familar terrain give North Korean forces an advantage? Who wins in this scenario?

My verdict: North Korean Special Forces takes this one. The North Korean Special Forces have lots of experience fighting a
defensive war back since the Korean War, so experience and home soil advantage are a big factor.

Scenario 2:
Both sides fight on neutral territory. Both side battle it out in equal numbers just to determine who is the deadlier force. Who wins in this scenario?

My verdict: North Korean Special Forces takes this one. The training in which the North Korean Special Forces use is renowned and demanding. Considering North Korea is the most militarized country in the world and young males in this country are trained at a very young age to become elite soldiers for this nation. Althought fierce, the US Army Rangers are not considered the
toughest crack force from the United States, so they would be at a skill disadvantage against North Korea's best.

Scenario 3:
North Korean special forces invade the United States. Both forces battle it out in equal numbers to see who is more deadlier. Would home soil advantage give the edge to the Americans? Who wins in this scenario?

My verdict: US Army Rangers takes this one. Given its familiarity with the territory, the US Army Rangers would win this one and the North Korean Special Forces are more of a defensive force.

Only someone from the North Korean propaganda ministry could vote in favour of them in this poll.

It's like comparing a patrol boat to a nuclear carrier.

It will depend on whoever calls in the airstrikes first.

Neither. Us Canadians ride in on our polar bears, intimidating the Rangers and the NKSF, causing both to run away into hiding leading into Canadian world domination.

I'll take the Rangers. They'd have too many support assets to work with for the North Koreans to be successful.

Er... on second thought, the polar bear riding Canadians.

As for the topic at hand it's tough - US forces better trained but given the history of North/South Korea there's probably a ****-ton of tunnels and stuff to prevent an invasion. So North Korea might win in scenario 1 and lose pretty damn badly in every other scenario.

The only experience North Korea has is throwing enough Chinese bodies into the situation to make a difference - kind of like Russia in WW2. People forget that the US and Co. pushed right up to the Chinese border at one point - of course they lost ground after that mainly due to huge numbers of Chinese and North Koreans willing to die and continue to die.

NK isn't even in the top 20. A more fair competition would be Rangers vs SAS or Spetsnaz.

Before this can happen we first shall unleash our own version of shock and awe: The Four Horsemen of Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, Justin Bieber, with Howie Mendel providing comic relief!

That seems pretty much irrelevant. Aside from warning shots across the border, NK ground forces haven't engaged in anything that could be described as "warfare" in over 50 years. None of them could be called battle-tested.

On the other side, it's been close to 50 years since the Americans weren't in a war of one kind or another.

Scenario 1:
An equally sized force of US Army Rangers invade North Korea against an equally sized force of North Korean special forces, do US Army Rangers have an advantage? or disadvantage? Would fighting on home soil & familar terrain give North Korean forces an advantage? Who wins in this scenario?
This scenario makes no sense... why would the Rangers invade North Korea on their own? And why wouldn't NK involve their artillery or air force in defense? What goal are the Rangers trying to accomplish? Where and how are they entering NK? Are they just getting together in a big field and shooting at each other?

Quote:
Scenario 2:
Both sides fight on neutral territory. Both side battle it out in equal numbers just to determine who is the deadlier force. Who wins in this scenario?
What kind of territory?

Quote:
Scenario 3:
North Korean special forces invade the United States. Both forces battle it out in equal numbers to see who is more deadlier. Would home soil advantage give the edge to the Americans? Who wins in this scenario?
What part of the United States? A city? An amusement park?

It sounds like you're basically just saying that the "home team" wins because they know their own country better than the other guy, and the NK forces are deadlier on neutral ground because... just because.

To be fair, the thread starter borrowed this from SPIKE's Deadliest Warrior series...where the Rangers won. I enjoy the show but it sometimes gets on my nerves how they pick and choose when to be scientific and when not to be.
