His last 24 AHL games I believe he has something like 14 goals? Im not entirely sure on the specific numbers but the first half of the year he did nothing, then just hit his stride and hasnt looked back.

Injured shoulder which is a huge nuisance for goal scorers especially. Disconnect with the team and having to readjust to the AHL game after his year in Sweden on the big ice. I think the odds were just stacked against him to start the year and once he got back into his groove the goals just came to him like they always have.

He's getting a golden opportunity with the Canucks right now and hes handling it like a boss.

I love what I'm seeing from Jensen so far. Kind of reminds me of the way Grabner progressed with the Canucks, except they aren't sheltering Jensen's minutes.

It really isnt fair/nice to criticize a poster for making some comments in the past that now look silly.

All of us could find the very same thing in our own post history.

His stats are pretty good from bouncing back:

AHL:

GP: 51
G: 15
A:5

NHL:

GP: 6
G: 2
A: 2
SOgoals: 1

(Just had to make it look better and get more specific)

Not only that he has gotten Burrows and Henrik going. Burrows has had 5 goals in his last 4 games. He also has some assists.

in addition to the other explanations shared...

he was not playing with Sedin and Burrows in the AHL either. he has the juice and jump about playing in the NHL and getting a shot on the top line. motivated in a way he was not in the AHL.

some guys just do better in the bigs than in the minors.

COL fan but really enjoyed watching him play these last 3 games and hoping he continues to mature and play this way!

I also heard he played left wing in the minors for a while and when he switched to the right wing, the goals started to come. His two goals in the NHL are directly coming from the right wing and quickly shooting the puck.

I always chuckle to myself when I see posters make absolute statements about prospects and players, as if they have a crystal ball and know everything. You're not wrong that we'll all have silly statements in our posting history, but some people karmically deserve mocking when they spout off that "Prospect A will be a total bust, book it!" as if they have some insight from their laptop at home that real scouts don't.

I myself remember the quoted poster from the Sportsnet.ca forums a couple years ago. His opinions were always reactionary and anti-Euro. So I'm smiling at seeing him being proven wrong. But that's just me.

Too good for the AHL.
No point in dominating plugs.
Waits for big stage to show his skills.

Development isn't linear for one, and he came into the season nursing a pretty major shoulder injury, so it took a while for him to gain some momentum/stride.

3rd, he wasn't getting any puck luck. Coaches and fans who watch Utica games consistently said that he was doing all the right things that would normally have lead to points/goals, but nothing was going in.

Utica is one of the most offensively barren team in the AHL, which also plays into that.

Kid has talent, I think that people who have watched him play will corroborate that. Now he has to continue to work hard and develop. He's poised to slot into the top 6 next season if he keeps this up.

In response too the bolded, I can say that in the 20+ Utica games I've watched this season Jensen's struggles are a direct result of his injury. He was getting all the chances early in the year, but his shot accuracy was off...could hit the net if he tried..so he's really been playing at this level all year, or at least most of it.

While those claiming bust had a right to be concerned, claiming bust tag to such a young player is ridiculous.

-Shoulder injury
-switching between several leagues in a short period of time, getting accustomed to the NA game
-bad puck luck...started losing confidence/mojo
-lack of offensively talented linemates in Utica (seriously, they're not very good)
-wasn't put in the right situations by coach Green, to start the season

Nicklas Jensen has 3 goals and 1 assist in his last 4 games. He is also a +5. Hope the Canucks use him wisely in terms of chemistry next season that won't mess him up.
