Update:

Ville Leino: 30GP 3G 7A 10P
Tim Connolly: 29GP 7G 15A 22P

I really thought Leino would perform better than that, and I actually wanted the Leafs to pursue him in the summer.

Connolly would be tied for 4th in Sabres scoring

If Leino won the poll and the bump was made... well, respect, you're proving those wrong. Leino never won the poll though... Conolly did.

At the time, those who were wrong were in the minority anyways... so why bump it other than to thump your own chest?

Pretty stupid if you ask me.

It's self rightoues garbage like this why Leaf fans get a bad rep.
Connolly AINEC.

Thanks for bumping, I never saw this one in the summer. That contract could become one of the worst. There's a good chance he could get passed around as a salary dump like Lupul did.

Whoever decided to lock the Leino deal is probably now thinking between suicide and retirement.

6 year/$27 million contract to a player who has one decent season and one good playoff run before that? Talking about gambling.

I was always Leino fan because he was playing for my team in FEL.. BUT it's always been Connolly AINEC. Leino had luck and great line back in the Flyers playoffs, but it was still only 20 games.

It's going to be hilarious when Leafs fans discover why Sabres fans hate Connolly even though they knew he'd outproduce Leino.

Lenio has a better contract and will outproduce Tin Man Connolly who is way overpayed.

Connolly is great offensively, has slick hands, great defensively, blocks shots, etc.

I am pleasantly surprised. Stay healthy and I will love you (no homo).

Connolly is a good 2 way centre above average offensively and good defensively. If he plays 60 games he's worth the money because that's 60 games of solid production and he cost us zero assets and only has a year left at the end of the season.

Leino is a bottom 6 player making 4 + million... for the next 7 years... Awful signing but every team makes bad signings in free agency.

I thought Connolly would be a better signing than Leino during July, and I still believe it right now. Don't really know what Sabres fans were talking about. Connolly has done the job thus far.

I already see why he annoys you. Amazingly brilliant one second, frustratingly lazy another. But I'd still rather have him than Leino.

Leafs fans know the knock on Connolly, aside from his injury issues, it's his playoff performances. The Sabres haven't had much success in the post-season and when that happens, the spotlight shines much brighter on the guy who's not putting up any points. The difference with Connolly on the Leafs was that he was not signed as part of the blueprint for a Cup run, the expectations for Connolly are not the same here in Toronto.
