Do you really think after his present contract expires, he will stay in the NHL? If not, do you guys think he would like to continue playing a role in the Habs organization? I don't know, like defensive coach or something...
I was wondering because I actually really really like having him in Montreal, and I wouldn't like to see him leave for another team of anything... Whatever, what do you guys think?
Gill has always been one of my favorite habs, he always busts his ass which gives a good impression to the younger players
On the team. I Also love his leadership and his ability on the PK. Very underappreciated IMO.
He's an educated guy, so his options are unlimited. I see him staying involved in the game, but I'm not sure if it happens immediately after retirement or not. I do think this his last year. I don't think he'd sign a one year deal if he was looking to play more.
As much as I like Gill I would like to see him replace next season by a younger guy (as much defensively effective) also big, but meaner and more physical.
I would like to see Gill still in the organization I think he can be a real assets though.
Gill is the kind of guy you really wish would like to stay whit the organization.
He know the players, the system and the front office. He is educated, well spoken and have a leader spirit. He make up for is poor skating whit high defense IQ, this guys scream the defensive coach we need for years.
Good leader. Don't really care if management opts to give him a role after or not.
I think we should have replaced him this year. I'd hate to see us lose another prospect at the expense of 35+ vets.
I don't believe players can transition to coaching their teammates from last year effectively. He'd be awesome in Hamilton for 2-3 years, then become an assistant to whoever Martin's replaement is.
