If you think we should add a F or Utility position, another D or Bench positoin, feel free to input.
Stat Categories:
Right now we have:
Goals
Assists
Points
+-
PPP
SHP
GWG
SoGs
Hits
W
L
GGA
Sv&
SO
If you'd like to add something like Hits or Blocks, or remove something, feel free to suggest. I've read reviews that Blocked shots can be very fun as it adds value to your #3-4 Dmen pick.
Draft Date:
I tentatively put the Draft for Sunday 10/2 at 9 PM. We can change that if need be. I like to have the draft later in the pre-season as injuries and trades can change player's values. Sunday night's seem best too. Anyways feel free to discuss what day works best for you.
Trade deadline is also March 8th, but that can be set later, earlier, or removed all together if people want.

As our first order of business, I propose we rename our league to HFStars Champions League, owing to the fact that we have the top 3 finishers from last year.
C'mon, you can't figure out which team is mine?
I'm against adding blocked shots. Faceoffs won or nothing. That has way more value in real life. You know I want to get rid of +/- but I don't think that has much support.
Modo's team was named after a Kari pun last year-- he drafted Kari. It's named after a Benn pun this year... going to try and steal him away from me, huh? We'll see about that. I'm prepared to take him 1st overall. You think I'm bluffing? Hahaha
The draft day looks good but is that eastern or central time? If it's central it's too late. We had a pretty snappy draft last year thanks to only 10 teams + a couple of autodrafts but sometimes they can take a while.

Go here. Put 3500 as the league ID and the same password you were sent.

The problem with blocked shots and hits is that there are certain teams around the league (Dallas is one of them) that massively overcount those stats in their home games. I know everyone here has likely noticed that the Stars will pile up 30-40 hits in a home game and then go on the road and end up with 10-15 despite basically playing the same way. Shots against / save percentage is another one where a team like Nashville for example will award shots pretty much out of thin air. Can't really get around that though for hockey pool purposes however.
I don't mind BS is concept though because at least that's something that applies to all skaters unlike faceoffs - with only 12 teams and a maximum of 12-13 forwards per team do we really need to be drafting faceoff specialists anyway?
Yeah so that's why you load up on players that play in certain home arenas. Now you've blown the strategy, great.
I like faceoffs because it mitigates the value of some of the forwards who are listed at multiple positions (like C, LW) but don't really play C that often in reality. Those guys are disproportionately valuable because you can plug them in the lineup on pretty much every day without conflicts. This way you'd have to give consideration to who actually takes draws. I don't think you draft specialists, you just weigh it as part of the equation. If everything else is equal, maybe you take the guy who can win faceoffs.
concerning stats, i'd be okay with any combination.
if we were to add a couple more stat categories, then i'd want at least 1 utility position added. this way, towards the end of a week, we can better adjust our rosters towards what stat we need to catch up (or maintain a lead) on. particularly true for saturday nights when most every team is playing.
Yahoo won't let me put the draft on a Sunday at 8/9 EST for some reason. It goes from 6:45 to 9:30 availability, with nothing in between.
So if we want to keep Sunday the 2nd we could do as late as 6:45 or as early as 9:30 EST, but nothing in between. Or we could do it Saturday the 1st and do it anytime (8/9 EST whenever works). Let me know what works for people.

You can change it back if you want its np.
Piqued I confess I still don't know which team you are. I must be oblivious to something lol.
I'm Eww that's Grossman.... I am not a huge fan of the hits category for the same reason someone posted earlier; that it's kinda an objective stat that doesn't have any real consistency rink to rink
Could potentially drop +- for Faceoffs since people have problems with Hits and Blocks. Or just add Faceoffs and keep +-.
I think I would be in favor of adding 1-2 Utility/Forward positions though. At 12 people and 12 Forwards we're only going to be drafting second line players near the end of the draft. I enjoy things going a little bit deeper so you get guys like Ott, Downie etc who put up decent points along with other stats. Makes it more interesting than drafting "who has the highest points" till the end.

I don't really understand what you mean by a utility position. You mean just another bench spot? As it stands right now we have the same amount of roster spots per team as last year with 2 more teams. So that's a possible total of 44 extra players owned if you take into account IR slots. Ott and Downie were both already owned last year in the 10 team league.

I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, but a utility spot would add another active roster spot as a more generalized category ie FW or FW/D. Therefore we'd have 3C, 3LW, 3RW,4D and one FW spot... I like this idea cause it gives you a spot to really focus on one stat category and the flexibility to use a player of any position to fill it.
I am also pretty opposed to adding any other player stats. Of the original list I'd prefer just axing hits and going with 8 skater categories but I'd rather keep hits than switch it to FO or Blocked Shots

That's basically right. Although, I'd rather just go with general Utility positions that allow for any skater (fwd or def) versus just Forward (lw, rw, or c). Why disrespect defensemen?
Also, although I like having utility positions available in general, they are more justified if we do add the peripheral stat categories (hits, blocked shots, etc.). Again, I'm comfortable with most any scoring system.
It appears some have different viewpoints about stats. Commish, looks like you'll need to use your executive discretion! I trust you... for now... heheh...
