Hitmen's Kosterman Gets Invite to Flames Camp

As per the Calgary Sun:

http://www.calgarysun.com/2011/08/29...lames-camp-too

Quote:
“I got a call on Aug. 18, and I’m super excited,” he said. “Just from the time of the year, I thought maybe that ship had sailed for this summer.

“But I was pleasantly surprised when I got the call.

“It was my goal to go to a camp. I’m on my way, and we’ll see what happens.”

The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder will suit up for the Flames at the Penticton prospects tournament next month.

Big kid, wonder how well he skates for a blueliner. Hope he impresses, never hurts to have a few more decent prospects.

My older bro coached Pete when he was in atom and peewee, he is not the fastest guy around, but his skating is decent, he makes up for the rest by using his long reach and size, he would be considered a defensive dman, an NHL comparable would be a guy like Adam mcquaid

Tall guy who wore number 4 for the Hitmen? He reminded me of Bouwmeester but without the skating ability. Or the playmaking ability.

So basically he reminded me of Bouwmeester because he's tall and he wears #4. Honestly I don't think he's much of a player, but good for him for getting an invite.

Personally from watching him with the Hitmen last year. I thought he was one of the worst D-men they had. Very slow, often gave up the puck in his own end.

I hope he improves his play this year. An NHL invite might open up his eyes a bit.

He would get called up from peewee to play for my bantam team in Lake Bonavista. He is a very smart kid on and off the ice. He has always been a good skater but seemed to shy away from contact of any sort. It will be interesting to see if he can adjust to the bigger, faster players in the NHL, because he has struggled doing that in the WHL.
