When your most productive offensive player is 21 year-old Brett Lawrie, you're fine.
Didn't get to catch the end of tonight's game. almost glad I didn't.

Meh. Wins mean nothing at this stage. The more we win, the more likely it is that if [when!] we sign a type-A free agent, we'll drop our 1st round pick as compensation. The team is right on the cusp of dropping below the 15th team mark which denotes whether or not a team loses their 1st or their 2nd when signing a type-A free agent.
I'd much rather have Prince Fielder *and* a 1st round pick than Prince Fielder without that 1st, if you catch my drift.
So with that said, let's trot Tallet and Rauch out there every game! Hell, bring back Wil Ledezma!
And finally, can't wait to see the Jo-Jo Reyes 7 IP 0 ER 2 H performance that's surely coming tomorrow against the Jays.

Don't we have enough youth???? Let's get the show on the road...stop signing these fringe players that nobody wanted.
A few games in as interim manager, and I already miss John Farrell. It's no wonder why the Mariners fired Wakamatsu after such a poor decision as placing Tallet into a save situation up by only 1 run.
Anybody else think we should have waived the runner home in the 5th when Lind singled?
I know there was 0 outs so bases loaded isn't a bad situation to be in, but the ball was hit pretty softly. Markasis has a good arm but I think we would have scored.

He would have definiely been out, Markakis had him gunned down for sure, by the time he was at third Markakis had it in his hand and like 2 seconds later the ball was right at the plate. It was a good decision, just EE did the worst thing possible in a bases loaded situation.
i swear this is AA's plan. Have a horrid bullpen because of all the arms we have in the minors, when ready can easily fill these spots. No love loss if the majority of our pen is not here next year.
Plus he used players like Dotel to get us Rasmus lol. But ya, I am VERY excited for this offseason. Wanna see what AA does.
Im gonna make a bold prediction on who we get cause hes one of my favs and ive heard his name before.. Hanley Ramirez.
Janssen should absolutely be the only arm we bring in from the pen....ever.
AA is essentially a genius, surely he knows how to clone by now.
I'd also trust Litsch and Perez, as well as Villaneuva once he's back and healthy. Carreno's got good potential, so we'll have to see how he progresses. Adding both a dependable closer and reliever through free agency would do wonders for this team.

That Free Agent/ Trade spot will likely go to either Shawn Camp, or a bonafide LOOGY. We could definitely use another lefty arm in the pen who can actually get left handers out unlike Trever Miller and Brian Tallet.

You think we can get Papelbon? That would be great, finally having an all star closer. But, I still don't like Litsch remember how bad he used to be? I just don't trust him.

Ya, what could possibly go wrong?
I don't see Anthopolous being the kind of GM who would blow his wad on a high priced free agent closer. Internal development and controllable young players are his modus operandi. Papelbon is not coming here.

Remember how good he used to be? Like when he went 13-9 in 08 as a rookie? That argument can be used both ways.
Theres no doubt in my mind Jesse Litsch is a major league calibre pitcher, and an above average one at that. Go look at his numbers in the pen this year. He's been virtually lights out. Definitely part of this team's future staff.

My bad.. sophmore haha.
But theres something to be said for having to get TJ. That was back in the Brad Arnsberg act like its the 60's days, where our infirmary was like club med for the pitching staff.
Pretty pathetic that Tallet is now 0 for 6 in career save opportunities. You would think as a major league pitcher he'd be able to piece together 3 outs before giving up a run or two. The guy just can't hit the strike zone.
For all the excitement that has surrounded the Jays lately particularly due to Lawrie, they sure have popped the air out of the balloon with their recent showings against the Athletics (twice), Royals and Rays. I fully expected the A's and Royals' series to have vaulted them well above the .500 mark at this point.

Agreed except what the hell does that have to do with my post? I said we should keep trotting out the awful relievers we have this year to make sure we don't lose our 1st round pick. Next year we can put together a competitive team. What good would improving the bullpen right now do for us? Nothing.
Besides, a lot of the youth from the system will be up here in the next few days during September.
About Tallet even coming in at all: Casey Janssen was injured during the 9th inning, which is why he didn't come out to close the game. The rest of the pen needed rest days and thus were unavailable.
And to all of those who want AA to go out and waste money on a closer - HEY REMEMBER THE LAST TIME WE DID THAT???? BJ Ryan says hello.
