“We’d like to see more advertising and promotion of the hockey club and see it progress maybe a little bit quicker.”

Thinks to himself: Crap, that sounds really negative. Um...

“But I always think you want people ahead of where they are. It’s new and there’s a learning curve. We were just there to help straighten that curve.”

I've got below even-money odds on the midseason fold.

I don't even think they will make it til January. What about before the start of the season?

Ever hear of the Tuscon Scorch? The Bloomington Blaze wouldn't even be the first team with a heat-themed name to fold before their first game...

Your the one that wants to be a GM, correct? How would you handle this situation?

Which situation? The mess that is the team or the comments made by the commish? If I were the commish I would have left out the negative comment or made it a little less negative.

That or realize that starting a franchise that late is going to be a hard sell especially after the uncertainty that surrounded the market in the early off season.

The mess that is the team. Apparently Christie never signed a contract, yet they announced him returning as head coach anyway. Word is they offered him an awful deal where he would make less than last season and have to market the team from the area stretching of Bloomington to Peoria. Something isn't right with this franchise.

Now on Labor Day Weekend they sign Zbriger. Still no head coach. Wonder who recruited him? Don't tell me Riggs is gunna coach.

15 day intervals? What is wrong with 14 days, you know, 2 weeks on the Gregorian calendar? The one that lots of people have been using the last 400 years or so. Did the CHL get the dumbest guy in Boston to be an owner? Or is he stuck on 24 paydays a year instead of 26?

Has anyone been to any of their games? I live literally 5 blocks from here and I haven't checked it out.

I've not been to any of the Blaze games, but the year the Prairie Thunder were an expansion UHL team I did go to one when I was in town on business -- that was 5-6 years ago, though.

Was in town and went to the game Sat. Didn't know what to expect after reading the stuff on this board and having never seen a CHL game. I was very suprised with the quality of play. I am not a snob when it comes to lower levels of hocke and was very entertained by the game. Concessions were very good and maybe a little pricey for certain things. Had a great variety of beer. Good stadium to watch a game. Looked like they had a good club section at the one end too. Arena located right in town with plenty of parking (free on weekends) at local garages. Walking distance to plenty of nice bars. You do get the usual stuff for a minor league game as far as games on ice and ways to get the crowd involved but that is part of it. The players would go out of their way to hit their sticks on the boards every now and then to wave to kids and fans. Announced attendance was about 3700. If the ownership sures up they could have a good thing going. If I lived around there I would seriously consider getting season tickets.

Minor league attendance can be tough to gauge as padding attendance is not uncommon.

Have heard that arena is nice, glad you enjoyed it
