20 year old defenseman, 49 points and captain of Moose Jaw last season. A teammate of Dylan McIlrath.

If he impresses aren't the Rangers at 50 SPCs? Would have to move someone to sign him...

I can't find anything but on SNY blog that he's coming to actual training camp. You'd think they would have waited to see how he performed at Traverse City before extending an invite

It may be more for an AHL invite. They may let him see an NHL camp but want him to develop on an AHL contract first.

I was thinking more along the lines that SNY messed up, saw the Traverse City invite and believed it was a real TC invite...

Good news though, like someone said earlier in the thread the Rangers must see the kid play a ton so he must have impressed.

There could be other teams that are looking at him too. And I'm sure they've seen more than enough of him already since he plays with McIlrath.

As far as SPCs go, it won't be an issue. He may only get an AHL contract. Or if he gets an NHL contract, it will be after other players are sent down to juniors, removing their contracts from the 50 limit (McIlrath, Thomas, Miller).

Yeah, the same thing happened with Marchessault(sp?) and Bourque I think.....weren't they on the same team?

Dowzak is already gone. The Rangers already have 17 SPCs including McIlrath on D. The Rangers don't need another Dowzak or Klassen. They were Bowman 3 and 2 years ago.

It's worth the chance though.....Dan Girardi was an undrafted FA too. Some hit, some don't.

Yeah its good to take a chance on these types of players. If he earns a contract, then you know that he actually earned it.

Colin Scotty Bowman, 81 y/o goaltender from Edmonton, Alberta, who with a 8.9 GAA and 0,56 Svs will act as Henrik Lundqvists back up this up comming season.

Glen Sather has by way of courier informed the media that he expects Bowman to be a durable backup for Hank.

Awards:
Much ado about nothing. They also invited Tayler Jordan and Jordan Hickmott, and all three have to be considered long shots to earn a contract.

Between prospect camp and Traverse last year, we brought in, what, 15 guys? The only one we eventually signed was Tommy Grant, who is a marginal prospect.

Camp fodder, the more the better. Drives up the competition level. Evens out squads.

Sign an AHL deal and earn the NHL contract. That is what Girardi did.

Blake Parlett signed a NHL deal after playing last season on an AHL deal

The Rangers sign players to NHL contracts when they can barely play in the AHL. Dowzak received a NHL contract and he was an ECHL player. Chris Chappell. Michael Busto. Sam Klassen.
