Tyutin signs 6 yr deal

GMScottHowson Scott Howson
Pleased to announce 6 year extension for Fedor Tyutin. Fedor has been our top dman since we traded for him. He signed the deal this morning.

*Cue the hate*

Personally I'm glad. Everybody notices his mistakes and forgets the solid games.

Tyutin's deal begins in 2012-'13: 4.0, 4.5, 4.75, 5.0, 4.75, 4.0. It includes a no-trade clause in first 3 years, a modified NTC in final 3.

solid deal...maybe not a huge fan of the NTC, but not hampering

Indeed. Hopefully, the team will not want to trade him.

This seems like a solid deal. The money looks to be about right. I also would have preferred to not have a NTC/modified NTC for all 6 years, but that isn't a big deal. He is a solid defenseman for us and it is nice to know he will be with us for a good while.

I like it too. The dollar amounts seem a bit high, but a solid dman is going to get paid well in this town.

Wow, did not see a six year deal coming... I like (kind of) the first 4 years, we'll have to see how the last two pan out. Man that's a lot of money.

I'll have to let this one digest. I like having Tyutin in the mix, not sure if I'm a fan of the contract.

Good to know I can keep wearing my Tyutin Russian national team jersey for a good long while. He's been my favorite since the trade and The money may be a bit high but I think he will bring some stability to the line-up.

IMO too long contract. Plus the agreement will with NHLPA and NHL ended this year and we do not know what will be next... . I am not against salary.

I believe the CBJ will eventually regret the length of this deal.

Tyutin just turned 28 on July 19th. Do you really think he won't be able to still be playing well at 34?

12/13 - 29
13/14 - 30
14/15 - 31
15/16 - 32
16/17 - 33
17/18 - 34

As a Rangers fan I think this is a great deal for CLB. Thats the one trade many of us wish we could re-do despite how much we may have liked the deal at the time.

I was worried he'd cost closer to Wisniewski money. I am happy. Would have loved to go even lower, naturally, but I'll take it.

I dunno if Tyutin+Wisniewski will work out as a top pairing in and of itself - I still want a #1 anchor - but we've got two quality guys locked up for quite some time, and we've got a cap-and-money-saving contract in the offense so we can get away with a little extravagance.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Kind of surprised that it is 6 years but still not a bad deal. Tyutin is an important part of this team and the type of player you want to keep around.

Now get RJ signed up.

I agree and actually spit water on my keyboard when I saw this announcement. Six years at THAT cap hit for a strong #3 d-man? Maybe if he was younger.... I like Tyutin but this is just getting way out of hand.

This is what I'm talking about overpaying every single player. One million more for a Seabrook or a Keith? Christ you might as well give Umberger six million, its a madhouse in here.

Very big fan of this deal. A little high on the dollar amount just because 4.5 per is what I think he would fetch during free agency; however I also feel 4.5 is a good amount to pay for what he brings to the table. I thought for sure he'd want to test free agency, but It's nice that he wants to stay here. I know he has had some turnovers in the past, but the fact remains that he hasn't had a lot of turnovers, it's just the ones he has had, ended up in the back of the net. If him and Wiznewski click we could have an adequate top pairing this year.

Not sure I'd go with the snoopy dance, Viqsi, but I'm ok with the deal. I'll say it again... Damn that's a lot of money. This isn't the same situation as throwing the money after Brass or Mason. He's a vet and we know what we'll get. We didn't get a home town discount on this bad boy.

In my office, it was "well if this contract doesn't work out, he can always get a job at the Tim Horton's making turnovers!"

Seems like an OK deal. He's a solid defenseman. I just hope I never see him in a shootout again.
